Do I need to swing by your place in the morning and take some gear? Plenty of room in my truck.

Re: Welly Anniversay 3 DAY TRIP
been there done that
went in to rallywoods on sat evening via the mangatuks which was an experience which involved missing a track and heading up to the top of the pram track before I realised I was in the wrong place, so turned around and found the right way and made it to camp to meet all these top folks that I have annoyed on this site from time to time.
even met the boss of the whole awesome ORE family.
went and played in the mangatuks today but not many got up the start of the firewood track, so we went to the other end, but that seemed to be shit as well so we split up and cruised over to the slippery forest for a play and back to orange hut via the ruts.
quite a few punctures and tyres coming off all together.
I heard there was a bit of carnage on sat at rallywoods, which meant there was a few trucks missing today.
a bit of panel damage and a few lights removed from vehicles too.
there was a bit of a bagel theme going on thanks to Mike, so we got him back
jerry was seen trying to hide bagels under the seat covers of someones truck, until we pointed out that it was his own truck.
icedjohnno was so stoked to be there he couldn't stop giving everyone the thumbs up all weekend
the toilet even got a make over
I ended the day by coming back out via the mangatuks and another member in his little white suzuki followed me out as he wanted to get home as well.
awesome time, now have to find a place to live that has a garage so I can get stuck into Orange and get it going a bit better.
oh and by the way, Sigs and Doddzees trucks. I want, I want, I want
annoying to watch them idle up hills, that the rest of us have to thrash the living shit out of our truck, to only get half way.
I want one

Re: Welly Anniversay 3 DAY TRIP
Yep, I had fun these last two days. Came out today even though most people are staying another night.
Saturday morning, a hour or so into the first day I did a bit of damage. After playing in the Donut bogs went to climb the hill which leads from the Donut area (Bean Hill or the Sisters, can't remember for sure what it is called) and had a bit of carnage. Took out another indicator (for the fifth time I think, need to build some protection), broke off the passenger side mirror, pulled the shock through its lower mountings, lost one of the rear coil springs (fell out completely), bent one of the radius arms and twisted my driveshaft into two pieces all at once.
Some pics below of the pieces, taken with my cellphone so a little grainy.
.jpg)
The radius rod which is meant to be perfectly straight.
.jpg)
The driveshaft in two pieces.
Luckily Bundy, who is the caretaker at Rallywoods, was right there and offered his place in Rallywoods which just about fully equiped for any repair jobs, to repair the damage.
In less than two hours the truck was repaired and mobile again.
We cut the twisted bits of the driveshaft, found a bit of pipe near enough to be a sliding fit inside the the two driveshaft halves, and welded the sucker back together.
The radius arm was straightened by using a hi-lift jack and a 40ft container as a shop press. The shock went back into the axle housing with the aid of a few big washers.
Took it easy the rest of the weekend as the radius arm still has a kink in it and is probably weakened. Didn't want to bend it like that again in a more difficult spot and/or further away from Bundy's place.
Today the quite large group split into two with one lot doing the Firewood loop and the other lot exploring other parts of the Aka's.
I went with the group doing the Firewood Loop and we had a ball of a time. To hear Sig's Cruiser at full song is music to my ears. Stinky was there with a video camera and plenty of people were taking pictures so I think we'll get to see (and hopefully hear) some of the action again.
Later in the day the two groups met again at Slippery Forest were we played a bit amongst the mud holes in between the trees. The trip out back to Rallywoods went via the newly rebuilt Orange Hut and along the main, and very dusty, main tracks.
It was good to meet some more out of town-ers on this weekend, notably Badnuz from Palmerston North, Dazza who made the trip down from Hastings and IcedJohnno who made the trip up from down south with Mike. All very pleasant fellows and its nice to be able to put some more faces to names.

Re: Welly Anniversay 3 DAY TRIP
I also found that when you have to wait for quite a while as others attempt to take the wheel off Badnuz cruiser after he half removed the tyre, you can get quite tired.
Its not very easy, but you can have a sleep in a race seat in the hot sun under your very hot black soft top.
hopefully I have successfully posted some pics of my sleeping place...........

I was quite cozy until Sam woke me up looking for a can of CRC, Dammit.
I think Rhys (suzuki1k)
may of been sleeping too, coz he never got out of that safari in front of me at all, and we were stopped for over an hour

Re: Welly Anniversay 3 DAY TRIP
Shit what another great weekend even if it was a bit plaged with puntures and breakages
I took it a bit easier on the Saturday prefering to hang around the Bar at Green Hut having the odd cold one rather than thrashing about breaking my truck but I did get down the long hill off to the the left of Fawk Hill (can't remember whats its called) where we ended up with a broken truck that we had to pull back up to the top..... shit we looked like a freight train coming up there with all those trucks stropped together
We ended up in two groups in the Aka's on Sunday after having a bit of trouble getting some vehicles up the steep entrance to the firewood loop and shifted around to the other end and came in from the other side, we did a bit of chainsawing to get our way through the overgrown trees like the one that broke my windscreen in the first 100m of the track
It was an awesome weekend, a lot of work involved in organising it, Jerry, Sig, Tony and Reece and everyone else.... it's much appreciated and it was good to have all the out of towners there, Dazza85, badnuz, Mike, a big thumbs up to icedjonno and shit Skid even moved back to Welly just to come on this trip and drink piss at Green hut

Re: Welly Anniversay 3 DAY TRIP
Oh yes yet another great ORE weekender. Thanks to all the organisers & trip leaders. It was great to meet Icedjonno (aka Hillillly ..YEEHAW, Nice One) and catch up with Mike again, meet Dazza and Skid.
We didnt get in there until just after lunch Sat. Just in time to head down the Beeches with the crew, after alot of track maintenance (digging!) we headed back up with Jumper in tow (parts jumpering off his wagon) we then headed down Fawke Hill, got to the top and met up with Beer_Tara so we did another loop round Fawke Hill and then cruised round up the top. Back to Green Hutt for tea at 9.30, drinks till 2!
Sunday started with a rowsing train horn about 6.30am, and some noisey bas*%$ on a waterblaster right next to our tent. We all saddled up and headed for the Akas, got a puncture before getting to the firewood loop. Luckily Reece, Bundy and Sig had the expertise and kit to get it sorted asap. Once at the bottom of the firewood loop Sig blasted up, then came down and towed Reece up, man can that V8 sing! Then Doddzee recovered Ewen (badnuz) from the bottom of the track and some of us split off to head up the other end of the firewood loop. We were in the lead so just went for it...and did some minor damage in one of the top bogs, snorkel ripped off, new dents etc...after a long 3-4 hours, and lots of diggin, towing, winching (or wenching aye Ryan) we emerged back where we started and set off for slippery forest...discovering on the way that there were a few radiators that needed cleaning asap!!! after a quick play in the forest and cloggy did his first recover with his new winch...recovering himself so he could get through to recover us, we headed back to green hut via orange hutt.
Mike and Iced Johnno were missing their south island rivers so much that we joined them for a play downstream....cant wait to see those photos....we went further than we've ever been before and through some really soft deep river crossings...which were thoroughly investigated first ..and we were all stropped up. Luckily for Icedjohnno...several times! Quiet night Sunday night, quick play Monday morning then down to the river for a refreshing swim.
If anyones up the Firewood Loop could you keep an eye out for my long handle shovel which seems to have been left behind.

I was having a good time until the rear pinion snapped again thanks for the help getting out and fixed , lucky i had the spare diff with me. It was interesting driving home on the welded diff, nice tyre marks outside the garage, but i did see a huge line of trucks going to the truck show.
Anyone got a spare diff or bundys phone number?
