(UPDATE)

Got some new maxxi track shocks for xmas so It handels and flex's alot better.

My mommy put some money in my bank account enouth to buy front bj spacers and a body lift

If i do end up getting this i won't put it in until i get the 33x12.5''s of offroad wheel under the gaurds, So i don't have to cert it twice

Mommy put $500 in the bank for helping her, So do you think i should find a cheep as pair of 33x12.5''s or a bj spacer and a body lift??

Open to any other thaughts and ideas

Thanks

honestly, i wouldnt bother with the 33's (plus cheap 33's will be more like big31's) or the bodylift just yet, 33's sap a fair bit of power (under a 2LT anyway)... find a lsd for it (if you havnt already got one) they make a huge difference, and if you get one for $200-300 then it will leave enough money to do a good service on your 2LT... pay for more diesel km's etc etc

Thanks.. that will probly come after the manual hubs..

1st i think im going to do some mods to the motor like a 3'' exsaust new temp gauge wind boost up  , Hopfuly make some more ponnies out of this pos 2.4.

Then if i have anything left after that, Bjs or a body lift but wont put in until the 33s come along.

What is the maxxxxxx body lift i can do without having trouble with the gear stick and steering?.

Finaly got some intrest in this:D haha..

Umm fix rust behind the fule fuller thingy, Some in the guards then probly paint it matt black or flat black dont member what its called, Don't want an exspensive paint job because its only going to get scraches and dents and mud all over it with is good but dont want to ruin a good paint job haha.

What els do you think i should add to the list?

Oh and im aslo wanting to know if you can swap my wheels arround..

You know how they unbolt. can you unbolt them and turn them arround so the offset is bigger??.

Thanks

yes and no lol... some wheels you can some you cant, you wont know until you seperate the centrs from the rims...

quite a common mod to oldschool jap rims. for that very reason, to get a better offset.

my DC hilux body lift blocks were made out of 70mm dia UHMWPE rod that was cut to 35mm high

by nstg8a on Thu Jan 17, 2008 4:20 pm
i think if you go higher than a 50mm lift you will run into problems

dude two things ive learnt with surfs
1 dont #### with the turbo or you kill em or the engine
2 dont lift the body more than 50mm i lifted mine 65mm and the steering fell apart on a little slope called dreamer not a fun repair job to do while parked at 40 degree angle rocks to stop it moving and wanting to roll into the bush, also ya gotta rebend the gear lever stretch brake lines fuel filla and 33s still rub
shoulda come to rallywoods you coulda seen what a couple of surfs can do..........

To be honest mate I think you should forget anymore lift or bigger tyres for the moment. If your feeling flush a diff lock in the front would be a wise move, greatly increasing both the capability of your rig and the off road reliability of the IFS driveline. You could buy and install a detroit locker for much less than the retail of a decent set of 33s and the end result would be a more capable truck. Best part is road manners won't be affected at all.

if you're feeling a little richer, I can put you in touch with a guy in taupo who will convert the front to an 8" IFS setup and then it will be strong as
80 Series on 35" creepies, manual with twin factory lockers.

Ok, the surf faild on a warrent :(,

But all it needs is both upper ball joints, front brake hoses, new wiper blades ,the head lights aimed down a little bit, and have to reset the front bearings, So not bad for a 20 year old truck.
Where is the best place to get the balljoints, and brake hoses from?
And how do I tighten the front wheel bearings?

Thanks
