Post by red-devil »

well lets see.

1 got the diff fitted up on the bolts but would not slide into diff housing. :x found the difflock ring was out in unlock.
2 tryed to get the locking ring to slide into locked diff. BIG PROBLEM . the ring gear didnt move.
3 took the motor off and tested it. no go, took old motor off my old diff and placed it on new diff. still no go
4 found the gearing for the diff lock was stiff so i worked it a little and added some oil to help. Hay it working better
5 tryed getting diff up again ( getting tierd ) took three goes to get it there. slid into place with eassss.
6 started with left side drive shaft ( long shaft ) couldnt get the cv to hook up on drive shaft.left it were it was
7 started on right side got i all together
8 got the left side together
9 drive shaft on and then greased up those kuckles.
10 it's getting to dack to put on tires

Sunday
Fill diff up with oil

had to work on sat morning and then fart around before picking up 'Orange' and heading into Rallywoods to meet up with some top notch blokes from ORE, including the boss (Mike) and his sidekick 'iced johnno' who was a happy chap giving us the thumbs up all weekend.

awesome time, even if we didn't do much driving.

Had a good play up the selwyn. Played in a couple of good deep holes. Got the winch cranked up a few times, and managed to keep the water out for once.
Have been given the go ahead by the Mrs to get a thrash wagon. No wof, no rego, no fear!

For once I get to post something on the weekend that is 4x4 related!! :) I went with some friends up to a mountain(err hill in good kiwi terms!) and had a look around but couldn't see much as it was all fogged in. Been nice and wet over the weekend here so had a great time sliding all over the road! On purpose of course! :D Looking forward to some more when I have a chance.

Pulled the front bearings apart on the lux, found a not so pleasant suprise, rust and water shit in the grease, no wonder the bearings were noise!

No real damage though, one inner bearing was siezed on the spindle but a bit of work with the cutting disc saw it of and thankfully, it hadn't spun and damaged the spindle

will take the whole lot to work tomorrow and clean in da wash bath, press da new bearing cones into the hubs and hopefully be back on the road soon.

now just 2 light bulbs and a uni joint and the WOF is sorted
Got a Daihatsu Something, hasn't got a Daihatsu engine.... or diffs.... and it doesn't have windows.... or doors.... but its got tyres.... :)
