welcome to the fold, bit far away but never know might catch up with you sometime
Re: Newbee with sj413
Welcome aboard
Well there is always Thompson's track
Serously though ... the Te Aroha side to the top is a great trip but make sure you take another 4x4 to pull each other out.
Do NOT attempt the Katikati side with out a well setup truck. ( search this forum and you will see why

There is no mechanical problem so difficult that it cannot be solved by brute strength and ignorance.

A good set of tyres, the biggest you can fit

80 series tow bus towing a redneck ass vitara

Re: Newbee with sj413
i just bought got into the game also, but am trying to butter up my new samurai but also keep it road legal besides some strictly Off road tires. how much should i be spending on a lifter kit, (shocks and leafs) and does anyone no where to get those wicked bushwaker flares from?

Re: Newbee with sj413
so best tyres for a zuk? size? super cool to see all these friendly people here, every one seems real helpful!
Best places to go out west or south auckland?

Re: Newbee with sj413
I had 30x9.5 hankook rt01's on my 413 and they rubbed a little but were great (nice soft sidewalls so worked well for the light truck - need a little work to get them in there (bash a couple of seams flat and cut off the ends of the bumper support up front)). Get some tow hooks fitted get a snatch strap a fire extinguisher and first aid kit and join a club. Later on invest in a lift kit but go and drive the hell out of it and watch for the envious stares from the whales that also drive the tracks.
