advice on hubs

i've got auto hubs on my pajero,over the last few weeks both of them seam to be binding and not locking in or they lock in bt just unlock them selfs,very :evil:

,is there any way of checking/fixing them with out gettn new ones (want some manual ones just cant afford at the moment)

Just pull em too bits. clean, grease and put back together. They are really simple inside. :wink:

what would you expect to pay for a set of manual hubs??

ok cool as,will try doing that,ive had a price for a set of manuals for round $300,just cant really afford it at the mo,getting a new gearbox and coming up to christmas.

I bought set of manual hubs for a mates Mitsi L200 for $125 from Falsgrave Auto Parts in ChCh. They were brand new and was told they fit some Pajero's....

Asin Replicas from Falsgrove Auto spares, were cheapest I could find, but one of them shat itself after 4 months. So ended up buying some SuperWinch ones about 2 months ago from Craig at http://www.genie4x4.com. Email him for the best prices....

ok tryed taken the hubs apart today,got the front plate off easly enough,but when it came to the bits under it thats a diff story,once i removed the front plate there a metal ring with lots of holes in it,and two screws holding it in,i couldnt get te screws to come out ad couldnt turn the ring thing either.is there another way of getting them out or sholud i try some thing else,any help would be great.

The screws have to come out so the ring can be unscrewed. Its probably a Torx head on the screws, so go to the warehouse and buy one of those boxes with 150 squillion bits for a dollar and try again - they will most likely be tight as hell but try not to round them off or it gets harder.

Just a little tip, i picked up from a Toyota Tec, Before you try to undo any Torx screw, give it a couple of wacks with a FLAT ENDED PUNCH. If it dosn't ease it, give a couple more. Works every time. saves brakeing tox bits.

Or what the guys here suggested, put the torx bit in and hit it lightly with a hammer to drive it home..

The reason for hitting it with a flat end punch is to release the bond or nip between the screw and parent material. hope this helps. it works for me.

keep your eye on trade me, I picked up a second hand set of manual hubs for $60 all up.... just thinking about it I'll be selling mine soon (upgrading the syspension to custom indipendent sys)...

will do,its good,he likes it not as bouncy,he jokenly said that he was was going to cum back to u to put the old ones back in,i told him not to be stupid,hehe,i got my new (well recond second hand) gearbox for my pajero,it in getting fited at the mo,$1500 later
