Fishing round Rotorua

Post by imlost »

Hello there

Have been river fishing within a 100km drive of Rotorua. None of the local rivers, too many people there at the moment.
Have seen about 300 trout in 20hrs of walking but none bigger than 50cm. (Well 2 actually) anyway where are
the big buggers hiding ????????????????????
I only catch take pic then release, but would like to find some decent size river fish.

Anyone know ??

Thanks

Regards

Visit with WOPASS at Huntly.

Take a .22

shoot carp.

have fun, reduce the population of a pest.
TAKE PICS cos Although Ben CLAIMS that there are big fish there, it is only a CLAIM!! LOL

Or, Stand in with the mob at Tongariro, the Picket Fence at Taupo.

Thanks for the reply.

I would rather give the fish a sporting chance and not use a gun

I'm new to fly fishing and need plenty of room so standing next to anyone is out of the question.

So really I'm after that secret river full of huge trout

PM me with a good river

Thanks

Thanks, but normally those trout you can swim with are fished all the time and too smart for me.
I have thought about fishing further up that river west of the pumphouse, have you ever seen trout up there ??

Huge amounts of large Browns at a few river mouths at the moment, also huge amount of people there as well. Some people using all methods to catch these fish including grapples. Have heard of $1600 rods being confiscated as well as quite a few fights. Fish and Game working overtime. These fish are good fun if you catch one.
