Rear Draws Finished Part 1 of the interior build

About 6 months ago I saw a thread on the Aussie Patrol forum on a set of draws and thought shit they are cool so a coulpe of weeks ago I started to build some so this is what took place over 2 Mondays and 2 hours every morning in between

First I had a look in the back

not enough room there so I folded the seat forward


so away with the back seats I start to build

so now I have three little cubby holes

and a long draw (1200mm) which opens with the large door closed

then I started the other side

three more cubby holes on the other side

and then add a big draw

plenty of space now

and a cubby hole at the front for my compressor

now to finish it off with carpet and a little rubber for protection and some tie downs and latches to finish it off



now all I have to do is hard wire in the compressor with an air tank put in the new gearbox and give it a 75mm spring lift all before the easter trip to the west coast

I got the latch from TWL but any truck and trailer spares place should have them in a large range of sizes

Nup thats the site not expanding to accomidate the large photos. right mouse click -> view image if you want to see the full version. Will try to fix at some stage.

Mate, that is seriously inspirational! I have been wanting to do something like that in my LWB for a while. What do you reckon it weighs Paul? What thickness ply did you use there? The carpet and rubber top certainly makes it look the part.

3 bolts across the back under the draws and a large L bracket in the front bolted through floor and draws

It weighs about 60-70kg but I took my back seats out and saved 20kg so about 50kg for me , as for the bed the dip in the middle is the right width for a single matress or air bed in my case which I will be able to pump up with my onboard compresor and as for your toymoter Mike this design would suit any truck

17mm H3 treated at $65 a sheet . I would not buy 17mm marine ply at $365 a sheet

Paul i'll be lookin at doing some thing like this but i will use Marine ply Opps i work in that area so i know some poeple that know which truck to stop.

the only reason you need to use marine ply is if you are building a boat.

so unless you are going to drown your truck in the surf, then theres no need to waste a huge amount of money on anything other than H3 treated ply. Hell even the non treated stuff would be fine. my2c

Least ya know if ya jobs ever in trouble ya can make those for club members. Will be enough of us to keep ya going for a few years
