Hilux Chassis Compatibility

Post by WingIt »

I have a small project under way, looking at re-shelling my 1996 Surf Chassis with a new body.
Its the first of the more modern shape (cant remember chassis code right now).

My question is, does anyone know if Hilux double cab body of the same vintage will fit onto the chassis?
I know that it is possible with the older (89-95 surfs and Hilux's, just need to weld up some tray brackets)

Also does anyone know if a 2004 Hilux Double cab body will fit on?, similar shape. Im just not sure if the Chassis changed much in those 8 years?

Thanks

No Idea on mounts. What I do know is that the wheel base of the surfs is about 2640 (depending on generation they vary about 40 mm i think) and an ln106 double cab hilux (the 90s shape that comes in both beam axle and ifs) are about 200mm longer in the wheel base. so while you can (realatvely) easily put a single cab on, you will run into rear wheel/back of body clearance issues.

It would look cool if you could make a short wheelbase double cab though! so go for it.

Arron.
