stupid magazine

Post by skid »

So I sent the missus out to by me the 4x4 action magazine while I was on my sick bed,and she turns up with the other nz 4wd magazine instead.

never mind, I'll read that instead.

What a complete bunch of dickheads.

Was reading the story about the Deadwood trial held in Welly last october and noticed how far behind the times they were, and then looked at the great pics especially the centre fold of a local welly truck in action.

But then I happened to notice the scores/results that were in the middle of the page and was astounded to see that they had put results that were well over 5 years old in there.

most of the competitors don't even compete anymore, the ones that do are in a different class now and they even put in a guy who has sinced passed away.

how moronically stupid can you get.

just serves to remind me why I never waste my money on this particular publication

Stopped buying that magazine (cancelled my subscription which I had right from issue 1 ) a few years ago after I got truly sick and tired of reading about how great and wonderful Sam Parker was. On just about every page you could find something along the lines of "another magnificent picture from editor Sam Parker" :x "another great report by Sam Parker" :x "by one of this country's foremost leading 4wd expert Sam Parker" :x
Nothing against Sam Parker, he is probably a very nice bloke when he is not editor of a magazine (no longer is anyway), and he probably knows a thing or two more about 4wd's than a lot of us on here, but the mindless self promotion was just a bit much.

Who's Cathy Parker?
Is she the new editor (or has been). Surely she is related to Sam Parker.

There were comments by Sam/Cathy at the time the editorship changed from the last one (Ed was not then Sam either) that he/she had not been happy with all the Eds praise and had tried to get this stopped. This did change with the Ed change.

And you can't knock Cathy for her decision to alter her life. She had the guts to work out things weren't right for him and got on with it. Brave I reckon considering Sams public profile. And she wrote up a website as to why she needed to do this so as others could try to understand.

Must admit that I generally read the mag at the Supermarket too. Do occasionally buy one of them though its mostly Action 4 x 4 these days

Sam and Cathy are related in more ways than you can imagine. Lets just leave it at that - we live in a free country.

I just got sick of reading about all these fancy truck and no technical bits. So cancelled my subscription a long long time ago.

I only subscribe to two mags:

1) Jeep Action Magazine (Aussie)
2) JP Magazine (US)

They are both Jeep dedicated. Give me brilliant ideas (too bad its not a dedicated toy yet).

 i'm sooooo flattered a few of you great guys read my monthly write up :D THANKS and can we all stop this bla bla bla cause the new editor John, who is definatly a good kiwi bloke!!!! has great idea's for turning NZ4WD around and making it a club based 4x4 mag, he wants your stories and pic's he wants the mag to be about all of us and our 4x4 experiences but unless kiwi's help kiwi's nothing will change. My advise if you saw somthing wrong in the mag why don't you tell John Oxley the new (bloke) Editor and he can remidy it, after all where would we be without another 4x4er to tow us out?????? remember we are all in the same sport for the same reason  p.s wopass should also be in up coming mag's "have you seen the size of his winch"
where does the key go???????

Whether it be good, bad or indifferent; I'll continue to buy NZ4WD because its thanks to that mag' I won the set of tyres.

I figure it's the least I can do as thanks.

John Oxley is pleasant and helpful, and I hope that Shell's right and he brings the mag' back to what NZ 4WD'ers want. I would endorse her coment that if you don't like the content/layout whatever, let the editor know. It's his decision as its his mag', but he can't make informed decisions if he's not getting constructive feedback from us.

Now, I need a second set of tyres for the other daughter's truck!!

With reference to the incorrect results published, David got them from the NZFWDA website, theres no dated on them so its easy enough to assume that they are correct, perhaps someone should update them or something or get that page updated to where they sit now....
