safari oil pressure dropping away

Post by huntaway »

hello all, I've got a 1990 AD safari & when you are on the open road just cruising the oil pressure gauge drops right back to zero ??? when It starts cold it sit on 4, & when warm, working it up a hill it might get to 2 but thats it, It doesn't use any oil, & runs sweet as, could it just be a sender or earth problem ??? hopefully its just something simple,
any info greatly appreciated
cheers

More than likely just a sender fault as this is common, although it normally just varies a lot when the sender plays up. Best way to find out is to get an reliable aftermarket guage plumbed in temporarily and go for a drive and see what it does.

Cheers, Jeff.

Hi, i had this problem when i first bought my safari. i was real worried. I bought a after market oil pressure gauge and fitted it via a tee where the sender is. the up shot is that the oil pressure is very good and the electrics somewhere are not right as far as the dash board gauge is. So now i don't even worry about it.
