(finally) now i just need the offsetting changed on my rims and fit some flares and its off to the cert man
Finally got recovery mount and hook onto the new bar. (see here for lateast update of completion of the bar, and rant about the manufacturer viewtopic.php?f=32&t=9839&p=110576#p110576 )

went fishing thismorning (offroad !) pigged out on fresh snappa tonight and will do so for the rest of the week ... only caught 9 fish (3 hours fishing at a mussel farm off the Yak) all of which are well over the 40cm and one of them pulling the scales to 10lb. nice
If you already know everything, DON'T ask bloody questions!!
not much done in my shed this weekend.......just got the new clutch in on saturday and my arms are still sore from laying on my back and lifting the gearbox out and back in!! lol
Stripped down and flushed the entire cooling system on the Zuk , installed a new water pump and Cam belt. Water blasted underneath for an hour or so and only got half the grime off. (Didn't find any more rust though ) Installed new bushes on the front leafs and gave the mounts a fresh coat of paint.
But spent most of the day battling with rusted shackle bolts and broken water pump bolts in the block.
fiddled around with my car a bit more got all the engine stuff in only got a few extra parts now still waiting for the clutch slave cylinder and then i can put in the exhaust and finally replace the front brake discs and shoes

Spent yesterday doing what was ment to be a 50mm suspion lift to the bighorn but ended up being 80mm at the moment and then having a couple of beers before getting a wheel alignment today.
had a good weekend took the kids into our play area by home and took my oldest up the bush on sunday with a mate and his girl so pretty easy going for us.the play area is 12 acres of pines /swamp and hills and gullys that belongs to our water board in kakahi and if we look after it by spraying blackberrys and such it is ours to do what we like , so we have already been stuck in squashing stuff before we spray, and getting stuck in the swamp quite a few times, will post some pics but how do we do it with no albums? vaughan

Not much 4x4 related this weekend but the little I did was interesting.
Ashley has been high, during the week I went to check it out. Kept to the sides and decided to go through a small side stream to get around a stopbank and check further down. Principle is don't enter brown flowing water, but I knew this was a small crossing and only has flow when it is in flood. Crossed any way, found out the principle still applies. Was a show deeper than expected, the bow wave topped my windscreen, filled the heater ducts and poured on my feet! Passenger's only comment was, "The snorkel is useful aye!"
Had a wee look down stream and decided I couldn't go further down without risk so had to return the way I came. decided to use the same crossing point as at least I knew it was passable. Entered slower and still covered the bonnet and got swept down a little. Had to turn upstream and scramble out. Passenger's only comment was, "Four wheel drive is handy aye!"
Sunday evening went to view the vastly reduced river, used same crossing and just splashed the tyres in the remaining puddle. Had a wee drive round and fell into some soft sand (had been driving on sand for a while) Since river has rehashed everything its a new world to explore. Called up help and got pulled out a couple of minutes later (normal mate is away on honeymoon!). Got home and washed dog who was also in the sand/mud!
Sold my 1985, BJ74 MWB Landcruiser, rear locker, 33" MTs, snorkel, PTO winch, solid bars all round, spotties, AM CB etc.
Now just a 1994, 1kz Surf, pretty standard.
Got both front Cv's re-greased, new axle seals fitted and front wheel bearings greased, greased all shackle pins, and checked winch worm oil level, replaced shear pin in winch, went for a beach drive to check everything still worked, and planned moving the locker air tank to a more passenger friendly location, fixed front passenger seat tilt cable that was broken, filled compressor auto oiler.
No matter the problem, the answer is always give it more gas.......
Modded 1985 Landcruiser, semi restrained nutter behind wheel.
Spent Saturday doing a recce for the Okaihau Fire brigade Fun run 40 kms off road, 10kms back to my truck on SH1 hoping no highway patrol about. Didnt really matter that day wife was driving Sunday went back my turn to drive, and lead a group around, had all the shinies, New Toyota, New pajero, New V8 VW Toureg, and others but all latest models dont think there was anything under 70 grand. Was most impressed with the traction control of the VW on the wet grass on the slopes. Great run ended up with 112 registrations, thanks to all the members from both the BOI and Whangarei clubs who came along as well to support a good cause.
