Wheel nut removal.....HELP..

Post by DaveM »

The safari has a set of stupid security wheel nuts, and as luck has it, the adaptor wasn't in the vehicle.
Have tried Repco and S/cheap but they dont have anything close to fitting.

Any ides how I can get these off, or where I might find a catalogue of the nut styles available? Don't mind buying a complete new set, as long as I can get the adaptor to fint the current ones.

The common ones have the adaptors that insert into the nut, but mine is the opposite

Any advice much appreciated.

Cheers,
Dave

find a torque socket that is a very very snug(tight) fit and hammer over the wheel nut, should be able to undo the nut that way, I had the same issue when I bought my surf. Getting the nut out of the socket can be fun. Failing that drive to local tyre shop and see if they have one to fit?

Have you tried the Nissan agents?
If a genuine set then you can probably buy the tool from Nissan.
Usually the nut will have some code on it that will allow you to find the right tool.
Could be worth checking.

just weld a piece of flat bar onto the first one and use a 15" cresent to undo it then weld the next nut on the next one and so on. Rough but worked a treat. Mind you I love playing with the welder!

How easy was that!
Did the hammer and socket trick, done within 5mins

Thanks guys, was wondering how the heck I was going to do it, hopefully I will have time in the morning to fit the coils and tyres.

Now you know how good those wheel nuts are preventing theft.

 Yeah, never thought of something so simple to get them off.

I must get in touch to get some new shocks off you too, just not sure whether I can spend the extra $$$ on the extreme shocks, or just go standard efs.

Sharon will be in Blenheim mid this coming week with a 12 inch FOA coilover if anyone want to see one up close.
