23rd and 24th Feb

Post by curly12 »

Well great start to the weekend. Last night Taz01 and Turoa helped me pull the head off the 2f in my cruiser.
Something was amiss last week, when on the way to fuel-up to head into Rallywoods, the cruiser died. She was pumping huge amounts of steam out the exhaust.
Anyway a quick compression test last night showed no1 and no2 cylinders with no compression. Off came the head and no1 cylinder has blowen a 20mm gap in the gasket leading into the waterjacket and no2 piston has a hole in it.
Quick call to the Beer-Brother's and a replacement engine is on the way :D :D
Now to swap them over.......

1)Took the sand tyres off, put the mud tyres on.
2)made brackets to tie the recovery hook mount to the new rear bar to the rear x-member to the chassis. Everything is now well hooked together. viewtopic.php?f=32&t=9839&st=0&sk=t&sd=a

Got 2 missing bolts in winch bar (never trust a mate who doesn't appreciate this type of thing), fitted two rated tow hooks to winch bar in place of standard Toyota ones, fitted new greasy nipple to front drive shaft yoke, checked and loaded recovery bin into back of 'cruiser in anticipation of tomorrows trip. :D

Och, Tim glade to hear your OK, Surf looks very second hand, would have to be a rock right where you planted your A pillar.
There's one thing about you Tim, your a bloody battler, and I'm sure this hiccup won't stop you for long. Any way you where starting to run out of things to do to your vehicle, so now you have got more than you bargained for. .

MAYBE YOU SHOULD STAY WITH THE MUD TEAM, THOSE ROCK BOY'S PLAY TO ROUGH,

OW!
What a bugger Tim, Hey if you are after a body try Nstg8a on here, he may have an IFS body you could grab, if he hasn't dumped it yet. He is Nelson if you don't mind a short drive.

Make that 2 surf bodies. After Tim left, I lay my pos shit down on a private shingle road after avoiding another truck that locked up in front of me. Was only doing 40 cliks, but managed to do almost as much damage as Tim, and if I had not had the exo (which is now buggered) I am positive there would have been some very serious injuries, and possibly even worse  .
As it is there are a couple of very sore bodies at the moment, and 1 very lucky Rok pup who pretty much came away unscathed.

Still can't believe how quick we went sideways up the bank, it happened in a flash. We then slid 10 - 20 feet down the road before stopping. And it was my second flop for the day as well  . 1st one took for ever to go over, and exo did exactly as it was designed to do, (shame I didn't design it to handle bigger impacts   )

Still, I need a new surf roof section or entire body as well. :)

now your learning smurf

Yea it was a good day out crawling , pitty we missed tims roll over on a camera but it nothing that cant be fixed(as I said tim I've got doors and guards you can use) then thinking that was the most carnage that could happen when we saw what happend to rok from behind as he slid into the ditch sidways and then saw matts head hanging out the top of the cage I thought it was going to be alot worse than what it was. But I'm just glad that rok , mitch and matt were all right and thats the main thing.

None of it on the side in the middle of the road. There was fuel pouring out of my POS and the boys had it recovered really quickly. These couple of pics are just of the damage.

The damage may not look too bad, because the exo took the brunt of it (as it is supposed to), but my cage was not designed for impacts of anything over 1kph  (as that is all we need). The roof is pretty well pushed over and in, and the passengers door opening is out of line by about 50mm.
Just put it on the list, I also munted a 30 spline longfield cv earlier in the day

Big day out, but it was all good shit, until it started going pear shaped

I agree, glad you guys are okay. But do get a check-up done. I had an accident and didn't think of it. Started hurting me a week later and I sometimes still pay for it six years down the road (issues with my back bone).
