re posible pto post
Re the post i put up the other day, does the fact that my pto is behind an auto make a difference to what could be making the clicking noise? ie due to it being run off an auto trans does it have some form of brake?

If you follow me in the bush you must be mad cause I'm plain CRAZY !!!

Re: re posible pto post
Should make no difference, also, as far as I know, none of them have a brake fitted, it is still most likely a worn UJ or something similar. Drop the PTO off, and check the drive teeth.

No matter the problem, the answer is always give it more gas.......

Well I have found the problem, seems the front universal has seized on the shaft and has not been sliding up on rotation so has flogged out the front yoke where it sits over the worm drive shaft, the clicking is the shaft coming round under preasure and then the yoke rocks over to one side. have put a post in parts but anyone with a yoke and front uneversal?

Try a good Hydraulic repair/service business, they can supply a huge range of male and female splines, and they should have machinists and welders on staff that will be able to mount new male spline on your old shaft, and fit the female spline to the yoke. We used to do it all the time where I used to work, not for winch drives, but for hydraulic pumps, motors and conveyors too, it is all very similar, so they should be able to handle it.

You might need to remove complete shaft from PTO forward, and pull winch out too, then remove shearpin on the back of your winch to remove the shaft.
