Re: sat 1st march canty
I would be keen for a trip down the Waipara river provided that there are no land issues down there at the moment, I know there has been some problems in the past and I dont want to do anything that would upset things there.
Re: sat 1st march canty
Truck is good to go so im thinking we could all meet at the rangiora ashley bridge(just down under there)at 11am and decide what we should do.Either way theres fun to be had

Re: sat 1st march canty
how about the ashley track as its muddy then up the ashley, up the okuku and then those that want to leave can at that bridge and then those that want a little more of a challenge can carry on.
I should be there.

Re: sat 1st march canty
Awesome trip guys.
Was ok on the ashley track but still a 2 wheel drive job (idling through in 2 wheel drive that is!) in summer even when wet as it is hard underneath still. Needs that ground soak from winter to be greasy.
After some of the group left at okuku we accidently stumbled across the most awesome track ive done in canterbury (not awesome as in way challenging but awesome in scenery, coolness and technical driving). Its a very windy bumpy track that goes up the garry river.

how far up the river did you guys get?
Re: sat 1st march canty
was a good trip but as mike said wasnt all that chalanging and water levels were suprisingly low. wish i had the time to head up with you guys as i havnt been up any further than okuku before.
got into a bit of trouble heading out but luckily dean (zookfest) was there to drag me out otherwise would have been a good chance of ending up on my side in some reasonably deep water so thanks dean.
didnt get many photos but the few i did get i will post at somestage.
