Hiya all..
Is anyone useing one of these inventions?
How would you rate them, and any other general thoughts.. I had a look at the website http://www.hiclone.co.nz , some very convincing reading..
Cheers
Hiclone Fuel Economisers
Re: Hiclone Fuel Economisers
Looks like a load of crap to me....If something like this worked the big motor vehicle companies (Toyota etc) would of done it already.
Re: Hiclone Fuel Economisers
I have one in my s/c 7.0L LJ50, I went too the dairy, came back and I actually had more fuel in the tank when I got home with the cream donuts

Re: Hiclone Fuel Economisers
google it dude, they are a farkin crock of shit....
Re: Hiclone Fuel Economisers
actually part of the theory is sound. however every manafacture since about 1950 has been doing it. these days all the swirl is done in the head rather than externally. if you have a look at later carby air cleaners they have a vane pattern to them and the inlet is offset to induce a swirl.
the only motors where it would work on are old carby motors with shitty log manifolds. you would get far bigger improvements by fitting a decent manifold.

Yes but swirl needs to be varied with throttle to work the best. Honda do that in their 2.2 diesel with variable valve control on one intake valve. A hiclone in your intake tract is simply a restriction.
Hiclones are snake oil.
Re: Hiclone Fuel Economisers
yeah variable intake etc is the next level up from it.
unless you have a pre 1950's engine, hiclones are just snakeoil

Re: Hiclone Fuel Economisers
Mmmmmm....snake oil is good.
If you already know everything, DON'T ask bloody questions!!

Take off the headers, fit a turbo. Bingo, increase in fuel economy (if you don't use the power) and power.
