Hi all,
On our Maiden Voyage in our Pajero we suffered only one loss, the electric aerial. Has anyone got an electric aerial for a 92 SWB Pajero they are willing to part with. I need all the bits and pieces including the small loose parts that fit onto and underneath the hole on the guard.
Cheers

Re: Electric Aerial for Pajero Wanted
When it comes to replacing the aeiral, get a lancer one from the early 90's shape (92? - 95?). They are less than half the price of a Pajero one and fit in just fine. Mine came from and Evo 3 to get an idea of the age.
I think I have a spare moter and all the bits here if you need itm, but not a spare aeriel.
Then put a switch onto the output from the stereo so you can control the up and down at will.

Re: Electric Aerial for Pajero Wanted
I recently bought a complete Pajero aerial from Repco for about $80, it's quite easy to install.
Loosen the nut on top of the fender, and switch on the radio. This should pull it out completely.
Insert the new aerial gear with the gears facing the front of the vehicle and press in until you can't push no more.
Switch off the radio, this should pull everything in again.
Fasten the nut and you're good to go. It took me all of two minutes.

Unless you want to replace the aerial every trip its worth doing as NJV6 said and wire in a manual switch to wind it up and down

Re: Electric Aerial for Pajero Wanted
I've managed to get an insert from Repco and will collect a mount and everything else from a local wrecker, so thats all good. Can I assume, as I haven't seen it working yet, that the aerial will go up with the ignition turning on and is not controlled by the radio being turned on and off, hence the comments about putting in a switch?

Re: Electric Aerial for Pajero Wanted
The aeriel is activated by the radio, and has main power all the time so it goes right down after the key is removed
The relay for it is below the stereo and is marked as so - you can see it with the stereo out.
The airiel out line coming from the stereo, run that to a switch and then make to where it came from in the wiring loom. This way when the switch is on, it acts the very same way as it does now, ie up when the key and radio is on and down when the key (or radio) is turned off
When the switch is off the relay never gets switching power so stays down.

Excellent.

Re: Electric Aerial for Pajero Wanted
Just for interest sake, the aerial has two settings when retracting, and is selected by a switch on the left of the steering wheel. One setting is for fully retracted, and the other does not retract higher than the roof - great when you're doing some bundu-bashing. I do not see why you need to install an additional switch for the aerial.
Hope it helps....
