Simply posting here is proof enough that you aren't an idiot so you should be able to do it if you have a few basic tools
Repco and the likes have them.
What truck have you got ?
We should be able find a step by step guide on here some where.

Hi,

I need to replace my boots also.
Repco only list the outer boots and my local GM dealer has told me the genuine boots are about $200 each

Any ideas where to source some 3rd party boots?

Thanks
Bob

Where are you ??

Have you tried BNT, or Partsmaster or Supercheep ?

I'm in Tauranga.
BNT seemed to have the same listing as Repco but I haven't tried the other two suggestions.
I'll give them a call and post back if I have no luck

Thanks
