Xtreme Tyres.

Post by SMOKEY »

About twelve months ago there was a discussion on the Silverstone Xtreme Tyres, to date has anyone tried these tyres and if so what are your thoughts on them ?. Ideally I would like to see a back to back shootout between the Silverstone and the Simex Xtreme. Are any of the Winch Challenge Teams using Silverstone's, if so how do they compare with the Simex in competition. Any discussion ???.

NO YOU DON'T NEED ANOTHER SET OF TYRES  ,

I have used both 35x10.5 Silverstones and 35x11.5 Simex for general 4wd and competitions.
The Silverstone is a far more aggressive tyre and is extremely good in hard wet clay. Unbeatable I would say! It is very good on low powered vehicles. In soft conitions they dig holes, Big holes!!!!! So less power is good here.
The Simex is a better all purpose mud tyre. Not as good as the Silverstone in clay but better everywhere else. If you have the power, the Simex is the best oot of the 2 as it doesn't dig as fast. A heavier truck also suits Simex.
So it comes back to what size vehicle, what size tyre, how much power, where you drive, how you drive etc. As per normal each has it's good and bad point so you need to compare what you need with what the tyre offers.
Also the 35 Silverstone is only 34.5"
