8th & 9th March

Post by xj »

Cut the bottom hoop off my bar and added a bevelled plate in its place. Re-fixed spotlights so they no longer protrude forward of the top hoop. Did a TJ and painted my headlight trims black. (last week fitted the contentious Quadratec soft top too.....

Might just go and do some "then" and "now" pics on the Jeep section.

Looking very smart champ.

I'll do Cleveland next week and then look at desiging me a new front bar we can get into, now that you have gained all that experience on yours. Have just sorted aerial and put seperate switch in so that you can drop the thing independently.

Greased all the hinges (some of them were becoming squeaky).

Fixed the locking mechanism on the tail gate. Had to actually open from the inside after removing the cover (good thing its easy to access from the inside). Then improvised a couple of thick wires to imitate the factory levers which were bent. Now the tail gate locks and unlocks as it should. Don't know how the originals were bent, but it happens I guess.

Hiya TJ, Dont suppose you know of anyone thats got the metal strip for the bottom of the softtop rear window? Kinda got a channel running through the centre, slides on over the plastic round strip on the bottom.

I wanted to take it further back to fully cover the steering box, but in so doing would have blocked access to the bottom 2 bolts on the bottom of the bar/chassis. The solution would have been to then drill access holes, but im figuring that might have looked a bit random.

Now that you can weld, may be time for an engine skid?

LOLROFLMAO..... i wouldnt put the metal bonding that i manage to achieve into the realm of welding, for fear of annoying those who actually know what theyre doing.

If you get far enough off the ground, you wont need an engine sump skid plate pal....

spent Sat rewiring my Runva winch after it stopped working, the Winch itself was fine but the cheap plastic box they use to hold the reay and on/off switch is crap, it allows water in and my switch had corroded after only 3 months on the Daihatsu, so i removed the relay and rewired it under the bonnet in a more waterproof box this time.

oh i found out it wasnt working after some dickhead at work decided it would be a laugh to di-engage the clutch and wrap my winch cable around and around the Feroza 10 minutes before knock off on Friday night. normally it wouldnt worry me but it frigging hard to drive through town with 35 meters of 10mm wire rope rapt around the bumper..

Well I had a horrible weekend under and in my truck cutting out all the rust and plating it for a WOF so will take it in today which means I can move it out of my shed and put my new one in to start new build. will be going hard this week installing body lift kit, anti inversion shackles, spring upgrade putting in LSD rear end and building rock sliders and side panel protection bars. not much really... oh and a 12v power system for the toys, recovery gear holders and rack for dive bottle , air comp and tank... basically going to try to build a whole truck in a week. no worries. :?
If you follow me in the bush you must be mad cause I'm plain CRAZY !!!

Now I just need to sell the Audi so I can buy some tyres for it...... :( :(
