Regular OffroadExpress clubnights in Wellington

Post by Jerry »

been raised before, and lots of discussion supporting it during trips, been hassling Mark but he is busy so Reece and I are happy to get this started before this idea stagnates and gets buried....

The concept is an ORE regular get together once a month every month in the same place (like other clubs do), maybe introduce new members, discuss and plan upcoming trips. have a feedback session, view 4wd photos and video's taken and and maybe drink some beer , no point having an ore forum one and an Assn one so thought is to get the ORE Assn to host this with forum members welcome. Reece was keen to Run the first ones and then maybe Mark can look after the Assn stuff during it and explain the assn to new members how to join if they are interested. I can drag the laptop and projector along for the 4wd photos & 4wd movies.

The format of the evening should be to get the boring but vital stuff out of the way and then carry on socialising etc. theres no organised trip planning going on or other stuff like discussing events such as ORE club champs, something Ryan is keen to organise. works for other clubs so lets try it...

1st Mon every month
1st Wed every month
2nd Mon every month
3rd Mon every month
3rd Wed every month

Location? Marks place may be a squeeze, maybe we can use Marks boating club or another place if people can suggest it.

So can people pick the most suitable days so we can get on and organise this, otherwise Reece and I will pick a suitable day and place and let everyone know...

Maybe other ORE zones may want to organise something similar?

To keep enthusium up the informal approach works well and has worked well in the past ie: somebody sticks a post up and everybody replies to it and turns up to whoevers house that we've decided to trash rather than a fixed timetable every month or 2 monthly etc. That keeps the frequency of get togethers in line with whatever current enthusium is for a get together.

we have our club meets at the front bar at the parrot and jigger on the last tuesday of the month .its normally a quiet night and they do meals plus drinks are reasonable prices (not cossy prices but still tolerable). its pretty central for most people and normally parking is sweet.try them . a few other clubs meet there on various other nights and they are happy as for us to be there .they also have sky ,pokies and a pool table and i heard a rumour that they have this cold brown frothy stuff called "beer" there but i cant confirm that yet

Arrh the voice of reason again

it ant broke, don't fix it

Anyway, what club, ORE isn't a club just a loose band of like minded people who get together from time to time to drive, help each other out, drink beer and talk crap. If you refer to ORE Assn then you are just confusing people, move the thread over there.

I agree that there should be more beer nights however

There was a mixed response for this. Some people want a formal club night, some people just want an informal gathering at someone's house (although not many people actually turned up at the last one on Friday night  ).

So I have added a poll to see (anonymously) what people actually want. So choose your preferred option (Wellington people only please).

Sorry I wasn't there but after days without sleep I was a bit knacked

The one option that wasn't there that I would have preferred is the informal nights but not on set dates, just when required, asked for, every now and then. As it's not a club just a loose bunch of idiots drinking to much piss

But maybe the ORE Assn does required formal dates, meetings etc to keep the structure

This isn't about the ORE National 4x4 Association as it is in the public forums on OffroadExpress. I have renamed the thread and the poll question to be a little less ambiguous. Obviously it doesn't mean that Association members won't come to this because everyone actively participates here.

If members of the ORE National 4x4 Association would like to arrange a club night then it can be done in the Association forums.

Didn't mean for sound the way it came across. Just meaning; Beer nights (Yah), club nights (Yawn)

But regular club nights may be necessary for the Assn

As a suggestion maybe we need more volunteers to have a beer night at their place. At the moment it tends to be Mark and Handbrakes place or the Beer Batch around the south coast
