Thanks guys....hope you all keep the shiney(er) side up and the oily side down for the trip and have a ball with minimal damage.

Please....encourage the TREAD LIGHTLY philosophy over here.... I know I harp/bitch on about it...but... landowners...like the new(ish) one at the top of Napoleans Hill ... are getting a little pissed at the 4WD cowboys who are ripping/pulling gates/fences over when a simple (and dare I say it...simple) courtesy call would be enough to allow safe passage. (Before I get flamed...I'm not pointing the finger/insinuating/accusing anyone from this group as being involved/responsible)

Same goes for our favorite pet peeve...stay outta the "hole" below Merrijigs Hotel on the Big River Track. Certain "antics" from last years trip certainly did nothing to enhance 4WDer's image....let along that of the ORE Group as a whole... with a large numbe of Reefton Area 4wders, let alone DOC...(and I have to say...my wife and I were also rather dissappointed with the actions of a few)

Anyway....have a good, safe weekend. 8) Things have been a little drier over here lately, so the standard West Coast mud is missing, but no the weather or hospitality. ENJOY ! ! :D :D :D

Don't forget a trip report for the newsletter otherwise you might get uncle Bob (moriarty) chasing you, this can be the first person to get stuck/break down/do something really dumb

Or you could just make Mark do it

:?: Would you mind flicking Tim and I a PM regarding this Baldrick - neither he or I were on the Big River trip last year and it would be useful to get a local perspective.

Just a friendly reminder to one and all - whether travelling near or far to the Coast for Easter, please remember that your on-road conduct also impacts upon how the public perceive the 4wd community. Respect the road rules, be particularly courteous to other road users, and have a safe trip.

Arrange Sat and Sun off work :D
Truck springs an oil leak :(
Think I've done the back gearbox seal :?:

Never mind I can trade the use of the spare room for a seat in the truck :)
Find out this morn they not coming over :(
I needed to get the rims out of that room anyway

Looks like the only 4wheels I may be turning this weekend will be on the lawnmower :(
unless somone has room for a passenger.......... :)
nuts knows how to get hold of me if a seat is spare

Have a good one :) :)

However I am sure that someone will have a spare seat. Turn up at the campsite or something

Well I'm in the right Island now ;)

I came across on the 3am ferry this morning and now I'm waiting around in Picton until a mate arrives on the 4pm ferry  . Oh well, it's worth it... the weather is awesome and I get a chance to lay around in the sun and do nothing for the day!

Now to figure out how to get to Westport 8)

What a wicked weekend   thanks to Nuts and Tim for making it happen  I almost rolled 4 times but totaly loved every minute, bent the B pillar, riped off the inner guard protection on the front both sides, filled the raditor full of mud then went to nuts house pulled it out and cleaned it, snaped a 1inch thick steel stub axle for my rear wheel holder, riped my monsoon off and bent the left rear wheel arch   but what a wicked weekend   Oh and when Mike gets the photo album running (he said this week) I will upload some of the 600 photos I took. Oh and count me in for next easter   8) It was the best 4x4ing I have ever done. It was also good to meet Mark even thow we lost count of how many times he got stuck on day 2 up tailings    he kept blaming the tyres   and he didnt get stuck today up Neopolians Hill and the caves

Why you little....

Awesome, awesome weekend. What a magnificent place for 4wding the West Coast is. Something different each and every day. Thanks heaps to Nuts, Tim and Flag for organising/running the trips. It was great to meet you all (some for a second time) and have such a great weekend away.

I am now parked up in Picton waiting for the 3am ferry . Oh well, at least I can go to sleep in the back of the truck till then. Will write more later.

rolled into westport late friday night, had a beer with everyone before crashing then went on a wicked track somewhere in the wop wops with everyone. Put some new faces to names. (Aaron what was your username again?) Some great 4wding and the surf made it back to chch with only minor damage. Seizing front left driveshaft through stub, shortened the front right flare by 20mm (I wasn't driving  ) rear right flare came loose so i removed it, maybe slightly bent steering but I need to check it as it looks very minor if it is.

Thanks to Tim and nuts for a wicked weekend. Was good to catch up with everyone again, mark, kev'n'family , paul, tim'n'family, rob, the two johns and great to finally meet nuts, aaron and a very experienced flag (one of those guys you can learn a lot from by just being around watching listening and asking).

Sorry I wasn't always around, was combining two holidays in one

Just wanted to say a big thanks to all who played.
You made it a damned good time including the familys and kids with water pistols
Tis great to see the special bonds that we create through holidaying as a family with an all family involvement hobby.

Special thanks to another ORE Good Bastard, Shane whose suggestion of passengering allowed me to partake
Grovel Grovel mumble mumble His Safi impressed me, mumble mumble

Awesome to meet those I had not met, as well as those I had been on trips with before.
Huge thanks to Nuts and Tim for their efforts
RESPECT to Flag for his unassuming knowledge.

Was great to be driven around, I could even snooze on occasions
when not egging on others, complaining or winch bitching :D Cheers Shane
Thanks

Great weekend, hope you all enjoyed, a weekend like that isn't easy to put together, once again many thanks to nuts.
Went for a drive on Monday with flag and nuts to check out some local knowledge on an area we will return to, would be easy to fill 2-4 days without travelleing more than 15k's from a local campsite.
Pity I didn't have my own vehicle ready so cheers Dad for getting amidst it in the lux.....oh and thanks for letting me drive the hard bits
Will be pics going up here at some stage, I would like to point out very clearly that many of those photo's are on private property and all times this weeked; the "tread lightly" philosophy was well and truely adherred to while on public tracks.

So please no assumptions, accusations or finger pointing
