WANTED
Aisin A1-1000 electric winch needed (I think that's the right model number?). Also commonly known as a Toyota high mount winch, found mainly on Toyota Land Cruisers. 12V or 24V.
We've stripped a gear in ours and need a replacement asap so that we can start setting tracks for a possible winch challenge event which would be held later this year.
Anything considered, let me know if you know where we could find one.
Thanks.
Aisin (Toyota) high mount electric winch
Re: Aisin (Toyota) high mount electric winch
we are using one of these also because of the total freespool, we are also wanting to try and find out if we can get replacement motors, good luck
Re: Aisin (Toyota) high mount electric winch
We still have a standard motor here somewhere that we may be willing to part with in exchange for the top gear (the one we've stripped the teeth off). We run twin superwinch motors, so it's not being used.
Do the low mount aisin winches use the same motors? I've seen a few more of those for sale in recent years than the high mounts, so that may be a source of replacement motors for you.

Re: Aisin (Toyota) high mount electric winch
sorry to get a bit off topic, did a plate need to be made up for the superwncch motors to fit onto the aisin body?
Re: Aisin (Toyota) high mount electric winch
Kinda... We made a custom adapter which chain drives the two motors in parallel (side by side, rather than inline) - this was back before the twin motor kits you can buy now were available.
As for whether you'd need to make an adapter to just bolt one up, I'm not sure, but I'd imagine you would. Could find out though, if you're interested.
If you're going to only run one motor, personally I'd stick with the standard motor. We tried pretty hard to kill our standard motor and it just kept on trucking. Sure they're not quite as fast, but reliability means a lot in winch challenge (the benefit of hind sight).

Re: Aisin (Toyota) high mount electric winch
the motor we have is 24v and i went to toyota and was given a quote of $10,000 for a 12v motor, basically they dont make them anymore, if we can find a grunty 12v motor that would bolt straight in that would be the dux nuts, we are running 2 alternators, one 12v for the car and one 24 for the winch, we are thinking of going for a gigglepin or the aussie setup and buying a whole winch setup until dp showed us the aisin himount we had sitting on the floor would be a good base to start from

Thanks mate
I've been watching all the winch auctions, but didn't think to look at the 'wench' auctions
