The low range in a Vitara is pretty crap (very crap). Stick with the Auto and solve that problem :D

yeah i agree with DB especially if your runing a tyre any larger that 30 inch my mates just had to order rock crawlers for his cause lowrange is way to fast!!! stick with the slushy they work fine and less to worry about

shouldnt be any wiring issues as i dont think it is a electronic auto, the vitara is lower than a 413 gearing but they are still way to high, but with a auto you cant launch into stuff or dip the clutch if the revs drop a bit, in the mud i like to be able to hold on the limiter and dump the clutch in 2nd or 3rd and get a good takeoff, each to their own but i like manual and thats why the trials truck im building is manual as well.

Please excuse the slight change of direction but doesnt the auto benefit from bain higher geared in the diffs than the manual? If this is the case wouldnt a set of manual diffs lower the drive ratio and enable the auto to out perform the manual?

Just an other option although I could be wrong about the ratio thing. I know one of them has the 5.12 diffs but can never remember which. If I am wrong then do as the wife does - Just ignore me.

Hi
Have an Escudo auto with manual diffs, only 8 valve so no o/d on auto. Changing the diffs helped on 30" tyres but still not much chop in low / low. Sorry cant rember the exact ratios but there is about 1/2 point difference between them.
