Went and played in one of the local caves yesterday in the morning and then guided a local youth group through in the afternoon. Now I am off to strip the rear breaks and replace the pads and maybe the discs.
Ripped the dash apart, installed alarm, and fixed a few other issues while I was in there ... then put it all back together. Got to tighten up a line on the power steering that has been leaking slightly, Then just the fan to fix ... Out with the viscous fan and in with the electric me thinks ...
There is no mechanical problem so difficult that it cannot be solved by brute strength and ignorance.
got some swampers on loan from sig to try at rallywoods ............all i can say feck me ive found the surfs perfect tread although i did break another cv , overheated a bit going home mud in the rad again then a clunking noise down the road and found both left hand wheels hanging by a thread wheel nuts come loose ah well that life ........oh yeah bought another surf for box a beer so not a bad weekend in all abbo you now have no excuse to play with us now...
WARNING:
Insanity has replaced reason in the modification of this vehicle
working again yesterday and then drove up to Ashurst today to pick up a box for the back of my 80, so I can have a lie down if I need to..............................
the sink looks nice in the pics, but would only hold about 4 stubbies
the padded bits go over the box and the rear seats to make a double bed
have wanted something like this for ages, but never got round to making one and the ones on TM were too costly until this came along
other than that it seems fine and it cost me feck all plus gas to go get it. easy to modify if it doesn't suit

took the cruiser for a blat down the Waipara. The river was the lowest I've seen it for a while. The tracks getting pretty tame too, hard to find good obstacles down there. Thanks to those guys who towed away the car wrecks down there, good job
drove laurie sanson trials today that was good fun, good to put a few faces to names found out my new electric fan is shite so i think i'll go back to either viscous or fixed. sataday arvo fixed horn and oil leak. good weekend i think
Worked all morning tilI got sick of that then took to the Ashley track and then to the river bed, turned up the Okuku then up the Grey to the road bridge. Got in a nice deep hole (door handle level apparently - was challenged to go through it) expected to get towed out and mate was lining up to do that but managed to wangle around and just churned shingle enough to get out - need a locker in the front too!
For those of you doing the trip up the Ashley on the 19th its a low flow at present and crossings are a breeze The track is just a bumpy rutted place with ripe blackberries on either side - I'd go up the river without a snorkel for at least the part I was on today (but not all the places I CHOSE to go).
Came out the Grey onto the road bridge and mate noted my front left wheel nuts were gone - sure enough 5 nuts were gone and so was one stud and the rim was slogged out! Fortunately its my one odd rim. Fortunately he spotted it then and not while traveling at 100kms down the road.
So now I'm looking for one 8" whitespoke (pref genuine Mangle) for cruiser. And even better with a 33/12.5/15 MT with not-far-from-new tread fitted - ideally a Durango. Otherwise will fit my spare to a 7" one I have here.
Sold my 1985, BJ74 MWB Landcruiser, rear locker, 33" MTs, snorkel, PTO winch, solid bars all round, spotties, AM CB etc.
Now just a 1994, 1kz Surf, pretty standard.

Sorry Nuts, whenever anybody says Chainsaw I cant help myself
no 4wheeling but got a bit done, eyed up the new truck which is not far from being ready for cert, helped a mate (stood and watched, lifted when required) convert his car from auto to manual, and kicked my lada a few times and then started to tidy it up for a wof and sale, got sick of welding one hole in the exhaust only to find another ten.
Never argue with an idiot, they drag you down to their level then beat you with experiance!
I joined the Child Cancer charity run through the Akatarawa forest on Sunday. Passed Jerry and a bunch of ORE guys in Rallywoods, must have held them up a bit with > 60 vehicles travelling through. It was a great day, the rain did have an impact as the river was too high to cross so alternate routes had to be selected. Didn't get home until 6:45 pm as one of the hill climbs late in the day got very slick and the further back in the group you got the more unlikely you were to climb it un-aided - although the Jeep wasn't one of the unsuccessful ones. A well run outing, I am sure Child Cancer will benefit greatly from that trip.

Are you going to install your blankie with it too , has it got a sink and running water as well?, looks a bit different to the "factory" ones that are on tm for the 80's and 90's

yes there will be a blankie and yes it has a sink as mentioned, but it isn't very big, although I think it may be the perfect size for a bed for my Teddy Bear
the only running water will be the dribble coming out of your mouth
