8) I've got a supply of hilux axles sitting here  a whole rack of them, and yes any of the Hiace vans would do they all sport the same axle as the hilux
I've seen the diff mod using the rear upfront but that means I change the housing and thats not allowed for the class .... I've picked up a number of suggestions off a boy racer site that I might manage to do something with as far as the rear diff
I'm trying to get access to some of them to have a measure up and we go from there

I've just about finished your mounts 8) just need to get some bolts for the new mounts and they are go

I keep forgetting you have to conform to a class structure :( .
Would changing the rear diff be against those rules as well?, with the front diff i have seen the top ribs filled with weld and bigger bolts put in to take the stress and i had thought you could possibly weld plates just aft of the axles to stop the cracking that occurs there, also replace the bottom plate with something that is stronger and retains the rigidity of the diff?.
No worries about the t/case mounts, i will be (i hope) replacing the gearbox with the 131 gearbox around July when i have three weeks off, so no real hurry, i was just curious as to how you were getting on :) .

Ps any chance of pics of the mount?.

Sorry about the slow reply been a distracting week

Would changing the rear diff be against those rules as well?,

the rules allow me to change internal parts of the axle, so I'm looking at re-engineering the carrier out of possibly a nissan silvia to fit inplace of the lada one... possibly even swopping ring n pinion to... still got to get my hands on one yet

Got to talk to the scrutineer about reinforcing :? I'm adding weight so I'm slowing the truck down.... another wait and see
Now as for your trans mounts.... almost finished them   I would have if I didn't keep getting distracted... sorry I didn't have the cammera with me heres one of the passanger side being tacked in place from a while ago
Image
you can see the drivers side one to the left of the photo waiting to be tacked up, I've made it a little bit longer as theres nothing happening on the drivers side under the truck

Oh I just found out comp rounds in Dunedin, CHCH and Nelson  this is gona be a bloody expensive season  might have to try and get sponsorship from a trucking company

Looks like just what i need.
The Lada diff ring and pinion are a little small about seven and a half inches if i recall correctly?, would be interested in how you mod the diff as i would like to retain them for weight and size reasons, K&S make an air locker for the Lada diff.
If you want sponsorship may i suggest asking on here and talking to people that run trucks and how they got sponsorship?.

Glad to hear that 8) I'm also making another set for another Lada thats about to come into the shed when, one of the boys that are working here finish a truck

The Lada diff ring and pinion are a little small about seven and a half inches

 I wish, they are a 6.5" ring with a low set worm on them that makes for good teeth engagement :D , but becouse of this low set (pinion lines up low onto the crown) the carrier is very small

If I can mod them I'll post it up :D
K&S make an air locker for the Lada diff.

this would put me in C class

 as a buiness owner I fully understand what sponsorship is and how to work this one :D I don't think its gona be an issue... but if anybody (business wise)from here is interested in putting there name out there  This truck will be doing every round that includes the south Island ones 8)

I'm sure Nivaman and I could be persuaded to swing spanners / make cuppas if you need while you're in Dunedin. :)

8) Its my birthday so I'm gona spend the day in the shed, and working on my shit
those axles got the better of me I've started converting the rear over 8) Damm the lada has a good track width I'm using an IFS surf axle (widest hilux axle) and its still slightly narrower than the lada
All good tho 8) I'll just offset another set of rims
Computer willing .... been having issues with vista  I'll have some pics for you later tonight

 Cheers Mate
Right heres todays play 8)
One rear Surf axle kitted out with Lada suspension bit, well almost just got one of the top linkage mounts to fit, leaving it till I've got it mounted that way it all mounts nice, no miss alignment from little measurement errors
Image
and I attacked the brakes on the axles removed all the drum assembly's 8) going to use the lada calipers on hilux disks
they are a twin system 4 pot caliper 8) pretty flash for a budget russan, same deal as the range rovers but lighter
What it gives me tho is I plumb one system (the leading pots) to the brake pedal and the rear gets plumbed to the fiddles  all nice en flash
