The cruiser will tow it sweet as in 2wd it is a long way to have those axles and hubs turning

4WD with a locked (standard) trans case will do all sorts of nasty things to your drive line. The front wheels need to turn at a different speed to the rear in cornering etc.

I tow my 8m caravan with a 2006 4wd Courier in 2wd no probs. Towed it from the Bay of Islands to Kumeu a few weeks back no worries. I've had it weighed and loaded to go on hoiday its only about 1850KG. Can't imagne yours would be much heavier.

do not lock into 4wd on the road or you will most certianly break stuff.
If you already know everything, DON'T ask bloody questions!!

I bought an FJ40 that had accidentaly been driven on the seal in 4H by the previous owner, broken gears and transfer case casing... $500 to buy $300 for a second hand transfer case, 4H is a great way to break stuff.

My Pajero has 'Super Select' allows me to drive in All Wheel Drive (central diff open) I use that when towing, when wet, on gravel etc, 4H (center diff locked) is saved for off road only

You can run 4Hi on gravel or anything with a decent amount of slip.
Not tarseal unless it's covered in cow poo as far as you can see.

I know a farmer who ran his hilux in 4Hi all the time (even on tarseal). The tyres had some really interesting wear patterns, it's a tribute to toyota that the drivetrain took it. Or maybe it's because most of the time it was unloaded and the back end could jump and skip a little.
