fitting checker plate to an fj40

Post by nzdncjw »

Has anyone done this? my rear wheel arches are pretty much bog/rust and in need of some serious repairs, I have seen a few FJ40's with the checker plating done around the rear wheel arches etc, where do you ya get the stuff (I am in Invercargill) is it expensive? Can I cut out the rusty bogged sides and replace it totally with the checker plating... is it easy to work with / weld?

thanks!
