The annual 42 Traverse track maintenance day has been set for 6 April so keep that Sunday free for a trip to the central North Island.
Details are still being worked out as to the meeting location and the start time.

Kapoors Rd pumice pit 9.30am for briefing.
There is an offer of a free continental breakfast from 7.30 am at the Park Travelers Lodge in National Park for people heading to the working bee. More details on that in the NZFWDA newsletter Trail Torque due out next week.

I know where the 42nd Traverse is, but where is the Kapoors rd pumice pit?
No matter the problem, the answer is always give it more gas.......

Kapoors Rd is the road that leads to the 42 Traverse at the Whakapapa / Ruapehu end. The pumice pit is several km's along Kapoors Rd...at the start of the 42.

Is this it? Zoom map out to see it in respect to the main road.

Re: 42 Traverse Working Bee 2008
Thank you to all those who turned out to help trim the vegetation back from the sides of the 42 Traverse trail in the Tongariro Forest on 6 April. Not quite as big a turnout as in recent years but the bad weather forecast and the price of fuel may well have been an influence. A remarkable length of trail was cleared but it is an almost full time task, so there is an awful lot more to be addressed. ( The weather of course stayed fine and warm!)
The 42 Traverse closes to 4x4 use for the winter on 30 April, so the next effort might have to be after 1 December 2008.
