The other question I have is if I wanted to get it back on the road how hard is the revinning process to get the thing a rego again I have never been through the process and what is the relitive cost. Also if you fail the first time how much does it cost to try again etc.

Cheers guys your great helps.

He is dreaming, too much involved in re-vinning to bother at 3k.

Tardme has had de-reg 106's go past for less.

You will get varying comments on re-vinning, its been covered many times.
My experience is of a 70 series crusier, it took heaps of work above and beyond what most expect, 'A tough warrant'.
It basically had to come out as close to a new vehicle as you could get.
New brake lines, pad, drums, shoes. Every little thing like the slightest play in the steering. Bushes... The body has to be free from rust and damage. A real pain.

$430 a shot...if you fail (and that truck would) you have 20 days to rectify the issues. (there will be many I'd guess)
After the 20 days you pay again

re-vinning is only really worth it if the vehicle is really mint, or a classic or something. otherwise you just end up spending lots more than a legal one would have cost.
