Hey Vince.
Cheers mate! I'm pretty happy with the new sound of it. It's not as loud so it'll be way better for hunting.
Soon Corey I'll be fabricating up a cable operated butterfly system just before the mufflers switching it from mufflers to headers at the flick of a switch. 8) That'll be handy when i want more grunt for off roading.

When am I going to get it dirty? Well I turned on all my lights cruising round the quiet side of the avon river last night. A cyclist (that had no lights on his bike) was coming towards me gave me the big finger. I thought he was going to through some shit at me!
But seriously, after everything is finished, I'm keen to get it in a mud hole and give the beans. That's for real. Can't wait.
But there's lots of finishing to do on it.
The soft top gets made for it next week. I'm excited about that. Means I won't have to put a tarp over it every night.
I'll post some pictures once that's done.

I might be a starter there. Sounds good!

Just as well all the roll bar spots are detachable huh. 8)
The two front ones are solid though.

Oh and my 40 with a soft top about to be added, doesn't have as many panels as most 4X4's. And I'm not phased with panel damage. I've already rolled it soooo.....

Roll on July!

Now now. They picked Holden coz they didn't want to be driving those shitty Fords all day skid. I can understand that. :D

there's still quiet a few things to finish off on it though.

Found out the new mufflers were restricting the horses power. So off they came.

This is the new system.
It's louder (not that I want that) but I've lost no horses.

The 3inch exit pipes look better than the 2 n half inch I recon. 8)

The restriction was that bad wopass that i didn't need a dyno run to tell me that. As soon as i left the work shop with that system I knew i'd lost at least 20% of the power. The sound was good. But off the mark, I was gutted.

As soon as it''s ready to get muddy again it'll go back on the dyno. I'll let you know the figures as soon as..
But it'll be nothing like the 400kW I'm soon to get out of my Holden (at the flywheel). 8) But it'll be up there.

Still lots to finish off before it's completely done.
Such as,
-Petrol tank bash plate
-in cab gearbox cover
-soft top bar to be modified n painted.
-spot light mount to be painted n modified

The list goes on.
It's getting there though. :D

I'm not really into a loud cruiser. I think I'm getting to old for that kind of thing. I don't want the law pulling me up all the time. And when I'm out hunting, I don't want the game running away either. Give us a wave when ya see me about. :D

if you don't want it too sound too loud, then ditch the twins and go single.

I had twin set up and went with a 3" single exiting behind the left rear wheel.

best thing I ever did

sounds soooooo much better

with the twins when you're driving down the road, you tend to mainly hear the exhaust out the drivers side only and it sounds like shit.

go the single its way better

Well skid. After reading your thoughts on a twin system I really thought the dual pipe thing was the way to go (in my arrogant way of thinking). I'll be honest. Once the twin pipes were installed, listening to 4 cylinders firing on the drivers side sounded like an 8 running on 4 cylinders, true, it did sound like crap. So i was eating my hat.

I spoke with my mechanic and he asked if it had a balancing tube between the two sides. I said nah. He told me if that was installed you would get the same note from each side of the truck AND it would run alot smoother.

Well bugger me. I had a balancing tube installed today and what a difference!!

Ok Matt.
I'd rather have some audio of it going hard out in the mud. But you did ask.

Couple of developments have happened over the last few days.
First, was on a beach close to Christchurch. A friend broke down so i helped out. On the way i managed to get the cruiser airborne (by accident). When it came back to the ground it bottomed out pretty hard at the front. The front diff hit the sump putting a crack in it.
Lucky I already had a spare ready to go on. This sump has the bowl at the back giving heaps of room for the diff.
The only problem is. The filter location has changed and now the headers on one side are touching the filter.
So.. I'm going to get new headers made. But on the cheap. And these headers won't be 38mm, they'll be 47mm giving it a better flow. 8)

This is the old sump setup. Not at all good.

This is the new sump setup. This is the shit.
