NOTHING YET  i was replacing the rear seals and thought i would have a look at the rear diff head, so i droped of the rear drive shaft and thats when i found the pinion shaft had about 1/2 inch movement so i craked the diff to find the bearing floged out and the pinion on its last legs, i have a spare diff buts it,s 5.8 ratio so i need a spare to match it.
and thats my story

Can I ask why A35's is it just the ratio as I wouldn't have thought they would have been that strong or common

well you would have to ask Dan why A35 diffs,But they are a very light diff being alloy, and once you add some strength to them they are pretty good mine have howat axles to, so they were a good option when they were first built,But yes there are some more choices now, i would like to go LSD hilux but as the time frame is short now that the truck is nearly complete i will look at that later. i just need to get it going with what i have now.

Do you mean 9/41 rather than 7/41? (I may be wrong)

The A35 Vans had the 8/39 (4.875 ratio - Part no. 2A7320) But I don't have any record of what the cars had.

If it is a 9/41 (4.55 ratio - part number ATA 7093) that you are after then I can help - if not - I can't :) unless you want two 9/41s!

No problem - if you get stuck and want to go to two 9/41s let me know

I dont mean to sound like a smartarse but shit those things must be 50+ year old vintage parts by now? I thought we demo derbied the last of those old things 20 years ago?

Wouldnt you be better off swapping them out to more common hilux diff heads or something like that?

yes it probably would be better, but i want to get it finished  once its up and going i can build up a set of Hilux diffs to suit, and have them swaped out during the next trials season.
