ARB dealer price differences????

Post by DaveM »

I have been trying to sort out a few bits and pieces for the new Hippo, and have been looking at OME shocks, and a ARB winch bar.
I have found that the Christchurch agent sells the shocks for 145+ GST, and Bullbar for $1800incl. but the Wellington agent sells the same items for $1835+GST and $175+GST.

WTF :?

I am only wanting fairly cheap shocks as I will be getting a completely different suspension setup in a few months, so don't want to waste too much, does anyone run the OME L series shock? They seem fairly well priced.

They do seem to fluctuate. I priced a snorkle for the Wrangler and at one outlet it was $713.00 + GST, and at anohter outlet it was $550.00 inclusive of GST. Guess which outlet I purchased it from?

Its because different shops are owned by different people. These "franchise" dealers, so they may have some ability to give you a bit of discount at the cost of themselves making lesser profit. Or some bigger dealers are able to use their "buying" power to get better prices from the manufacturer.

This is the fun part of free economy (if everybody had the same price, then think cartels and price fixing issues and possible consdquences).

I agree with pigfarmer on this one dave. I ran OME and they were sheeet. Designed for oz outback "touring" and nothing more. I have just fitted LWB 2" tjm xjs lift kit and so far am very impressed. They fit the 35" silverstones under very nicely. They push your wheel down into ruts but have a very strong compression for the other way. Have a talk with Rick at 4wd Accessories as he has some very sharp deals at the moment.
