If he chickens out let me know and I will pay a little more than you did to get it. Hell dereg it and get that back, sell the stereo, back seats, rear lights and all three doors and I would still buy it for what you paid (plus a little for your trouble).

Still looking.

Anyone have a 3 door, 16 valve MPI vitara for sale (or know of one)? Decided to go with the big horsepower engine (yeah right)

Not worried about auto or Manual, soft top or Hard top. Prefer non-modified (I want to stuff this up all by my self). Interior not important as it will be stripped out and seats removed. Exterior not important either just have to be reasonably free of rust and all still there. Drive train (engine, gbox, tcase, drive shafts and axles) must be in good condition cause it is going to have to last a while. Chassis and mounts must be in good nick also. I am in Auckland and am prepared to drive a little to get the right truck for the right price (went to bennydale last time from here for a hilux a few years ago) so you may be within my reach (so to speak).

Cheers,

Heath

Looked at it but its an 8 valve. Have decided on a 16 valve and have upped my spend amount (may as well go better engine at the start then try and convince the Wife that I should re engine it later).

After all this fluffing around looking for a truck the near perfect one comes along and you want 16v
16V more prone to cracking the head and has less torque than the 8v efi. Has only marginally more power than the the 8v efi . Rumor has it an 8v efi computer can handle a little boost , were as the 16v can not .( Hmm supercharger )

Also its an auto , in my opionon thats good thing , look at all the top trucks ( not that we should all copy them ). Yes you will loss a little bit of power but is $1300+ in your budget for low ratio gears ? Also it may have the lower diff ratio of 4.62 ( or there abouts ) which are meant to be a little bit ( if marginal ) stronger . If you are not worried about strength then you can swap to 5.12 ( std manual ) for a bit lower gears ( would almost swap you some ) .

Its soft top so cutting up the back is much easier , only caps over the b pillar etc .

AND TIME IS RUNNING OUT ( don't know how to make the font really big :( )

Recomend you think again , ofcourse this is just my opionon :D

Been having all sorts of issues on this end with internet access lately (cant get on T.Me at work so missing heaps of stuff). Swapped to Orcon ADSL2+ and phone line combo. Phones have been up and down as has my connection.

When its good its F!!!ing fantastic but when its gone it sucks. Still I have a few things to chase.

Well the vitara is sorted just has to be delivered to Mum and Dads in Taupo (and then I will go and get it) and the engine looks to be sorted also.

A big thanks to the guys who have put up with my questions and pestering.

Seems the forum crowd came to the rescue all of the bits came from here.

Thanks again.

Now to start a new build up thread (well more of a polish as the hard work has been done but that can wait till later when I get some pics, etc).

Funny how the missus doesnt seem so eager now. She was supportive until I said I have found something, I think she hoped it would take me a little while longer to find something (like 10-15 years), but she'll get used to me being in the shed again soon enough.
