Rallywoods QBW 2008
Rallywoods QBW 2008
Registrations are now open for the Rallywoods QBW 2008 event on Queens Birthday Weekend - May 31st, 2008 through June 2nd, 2008.
Please head over to http://association.ore.co.nz/rallywoodsqbw2008 for more details and to register. We are asking for pre-registrations so that we know how many people are coming and prepare accordingly. As land access fees apply for both Rallywoods and Akatarawa Forest we also require payment to be made up front via a deposit into the ORE National 4x4 Association bank account.
Please use this thread for administrative and information update purposes only. If you wish to have general discussions about the event then head on over to the "rev up" thread at viewtopic.php?f=9&t=7681.

Re: Rallywoods QBW 2008
If unforseen circumstances come up and are not able too attend, is money refunded? Assume this is the right place too ask?
Re: Rallywoods QBW 2008
This was discussed among the organising team at the last meeting , there may be a small $5 etc processing charge with the refund.

Re: Rallywoods QBW 2008
Biggest thing is we need to know how many people are attending so we have enough facilites in place etc, someone will confirm soon .... I hear Bubba is good at breaking legs etc if you don't pay
Have added this to the list of stuff for the organising group (if I call them a committee or sub committee they get stroppy
), prepayment is preferred as it means less $$$ to deal with on the day. In saying that day trippers etc probably won't be refused on the day if they turn up.

Re: Rallywoods QBW 2008
Should we look at maybe taking a run out via Totora park on the Saturday evening for those that may need to fuel up??
Re: Rallywoods QBW 2008
Thanks to those that have already registered and paid. If you could keep those registrations coming that would be great.
Please note that a few people that are not members of the ORE National 4x4 Association have forgotten to change the Event Fees field on the registration form to reflect that they need to pay the visitors fee. If you are not a member then please make sure you select one of the 'non member' fees. I will send a reminder to those people that have not done this in the next few days.
Yes, fees are fully refundable, as is stated on the registration form:
Work is well under way to upgrade the amenities in the hut before this event. New toilets and, hopefully, showers should be installed by then. Thanks to all those that have volunteered their time to help out with this.

Please note that any registration fees paid are fully refundable if you find yourself unable to attend for whatever reason. A small cancellation fee of $5 may apply in the last week before the event to cover any costs associated with your registration, if any.

I will be taking a trailer up there and am happy to do a fuel run if needed. Remember to bring jerry-can's and money, as I won't be paying for the gas!
If we get flat tyres, I also have someone that can fix them, if a new tube is needed then it will cost, if it only has a hole in the tube, then it will be free. Cheers Robbo - Nae-Nae Tyre Court.

Re: Rallywoods QBW 2008
Why is the Assoc charging members more than the Rallywoods land access fees for this trip? I cant see anywhere on the assoc site what the extra cost is for?
Rallywoods access fees (as per their website) are $10 per vehicle per day and $5 per person per night, the fees listed for registering on this trip are:
3 days $49
2 days $35
1 day $20
Is this including Aka's access fees as well?

Yes, no probs at all. If it was a big caravan I'd be a bit cautious about it, but a poptop won't be a problem.

18 have registered so far. And I know of a few that haven't as of yet, so the numbers are looking good.
I'm sorry, I've either been busy, away, sick or looking after sick people for the last few weeks so I haven't had a chance to send out confirmations. But yes you have paid, and thank you very much for paying so promptly. I'll send out those confirmations when the family get over this horrendous stomach bug

Clay Bird Shooting

The owner of Rallywoods has offered to run Clay Bird Shooting (aka Skeet Shooting) during this trip from the top of the airstrip. He will provide the equipment and supply the clays and shells at cost of $1/shot. As far as I'm aware this usually costs considerably more - $3 to $4 per shot. So it would be entirely reasonable to get 20 shots off if you want.
We have an ex-military person with experience in setting up a shoot like this properly and it will be run in a totally controlled environment with all the necessary safety precautions in place.
Please post up whether or not you are willing to participate and how many shots you would like to take so that he can purchase the right amount of shells and clays. I think that most people will choose to shoot off about 20 shots. You don't have to have experience with shooting a shotgun as instruction will be provided.
As this weekend is not just a 4WD trip, but a social event, we could even look at setting up a small .22 shooting range for the kids and anyone that is not so keen on the kick of a shotgun. Please post up if you would be interested in having a go at target shooting with a small calibre rifle like a .22 (suitable for children over 12 and anybody else that would like a try).

I can't believe he actually hit that, I have fired the 84mm CarlGustov and it takes lots and lots of practice to hit a stationary target let alone a flying car! That car must have been filled with lots of movie pyrotechnics's in it coz when I it hit a car all you see is a flash, some smoke, the car jumps up in the air spins around in a death throw and when it comes down most of it is missing, just what you need for bunnies

Re: Rallywoods QBW 2008
As we are going to be in there for a little while, and I am getting a little older (softer) and want a couple more creature comforts than a little 2 person tent can offer, I was thinking of bringing a decent sized family tent (caravan, which I was planning on taking up complete with heater, fridge etc. is still in use as another bedroom).
Is there going to be a camping area set aside on the airstrip to accomodate bigger tents and the extra numbers of people expected this year?
