hi guys has anyone had much to do with a winchester 1200 ranger shotgun its a pump action 3 in the tube. looking at it for some duck shooting, any thoughts.
Winchester pumps are very reliable, pumps are not the easiest to get use to if you have had no practice with them. You have to remember to pump them. They are very safe because you can leave the breach half pumped and when you want to fire, finish off the pump stroke and pull the trigger. Make sure it's STEEL SHOT compatible, no tighter than Modified (1/2) CHOKE.
And size does matter Go for a decent length barrell and also check that it will take the longer length cartridges. Mine would fire them but would have problems ejecting some brands.
Nothing wrong with 2 3/4" shells, I would like to pattern those 1550fps shells, with some of that fast ammo it blows the pattern to bits. The other thing when measuring fps is where is the speed taken, wonder what it is doing at 10 meters ? . Get a shell that suits you and the shotty. My Mate and shooting partner imports HULL ammunition, so any questions get in touch. I will be away from the computer for a week.
