New GT Radial MT's

Post by lneil »

GT have replaced the Savero MT with a tyre called the Adventuro MT. Has anyone tried these yet? I've just won a set and was wondering how good they're likely to be on the 'scud.

Notes:
New Mud Terrain; OWL

Features & benefits:
New traction design for 4WD's and SUV's.
An extra deep and wide tread provides exceptional 'off road' traction.
Specially developed tread and sidewall compounds give long tread life even in severe conditions.
Tread groove shape acts to eject stones to limit damage to the tyre's carcass.
Heavy duty body plies provide exceptional protection against punctures and impacts.
Ok people, move along. Nothing to see here. Thank you, move along.

they are a good tyre for what they cost, work well in the mud and on our stones,33s retail at about 275 each so pretty good value,30s at trade were about 140 each, mate is putting a set on his scudo in the next week so will see how they go on that.

Thanks guys, I'm not looking the proverbial gift-horse in the mouth but I was intending to buy a set of 31" Silverstone MT117 extremes (Simex type pattern), and so I'm trying to decide whether to use these or sell them. If I sell them I'd want to do it before putting them on the truck, so whoever buys them can be sure they're truly new.

Then again, I'm not really that comfortable with the idea of not using something that's been a good promotion for the distributor as I do appreciate the prize bigtime.

Well, I've done the first couple of trips on the 31's and I am quite impressed with them.

Really open tread pattern makes them howl on road, but thats never worried me anyway, but in the mud I notice they just keep on pulling me forward where the mix of Yokos and BFG 30's I was running would have left me spinning and stuck.

I noticed up the Muangatapu that they seemed to bag reasonably well at 15lbs despite the light weight of the 'zuk.

Pleased I kept them and man, I love the price!! (Although I'm going to have to buy a new rim & spare now)

Just further to this thread, after running these for a while now, Ive experienced a run of punctures that would really make you cry. Or swear!

They don't seem particularly strong in the sidewalls, as I ran it flat on the last puncture for maybe a km on the gravel before stopping and changing it, and the wall is shot, all wavy and uneven.

A couple of the punctures were due to crud in the tyre, which punctured the tubes, and now I think I'm going to run tubeless. I've read the threads about tube vs. tubeless and until now have favoured tubes, but will put up with not being able to air down much in order to (hopefully) prevent punctures.

With the light 'zuk its a shame, because you need really low pressures to get most tyres to bag well. I can't afford beadlocks to fix that problem yet, too much other stuff to do first, and it all costs money I don't have.
