Hey fellas, I'm looking at getting an 05 d22 Navara ventura nz new with the zd30ddt engine any comments on these beasties are they any good engine wise & offroad. I've had a safari for the last 8 years can't fault it will probably keep it as I don't think the navara will go the same places but quite drawn to this navara would like to no more if you can help.
theres a thread on here, something about a motor fault where the no 1 piston goes thru the engine block, here it is viewtopic.php?f=46&t=6290&hilit=zd30
70 series prado (KZJ78) and 90 Series Prado (KZJ95)
05 navara will be fine. pre 03 ones, possible need new pistons so check is they have been done already.
they are a few mods that make them last longer and go better. IMPORTANT fit a decent filtering catch can before anything else. block EGR and disable EGR butterfly. big bore exhaust even if its just the main muffler.
rear springs are weak so an extra leaf is recommended. tension pulley bearing tends to get crap in it and fail (nissan don't sell the bearing, only the whole assembly ! !). air intake tends to suck up water splashed off the front tires, not a major but city driving in the wet can mean oil off the road clogs the filter. it pays the check filter regularly. battery terminals are fairly poor, if they start getting corroded replace them. they only have a low amp alternator, so if your going to add winches, big lights etc an alternator upgrade may be needed. i think patrol ones fit straight in.
