Roll over bar / Roll cage
Hi ! anyone done any work on a roll over bar/roll cage for a soft top pajero? My car did not have one .... Any bright ideas ...suggestions?
Re: Roll over bar / Roll cage
are you wanting to keep the backseats? if not an engineer could bend you up a nice cage. can you weld, or are you looking to pay somone to do it? are you wanting pics for idea, or do you want some one to draw you up somthing so you can make it?
assuming you are going to do it yourself, id get a hoop made up to go just behind the front seats, and then some bars bent up to go down to the boot area. that way you can maintain the rear seats. if you are prepared to remove the rear seat, then also put in a diagional brace.

thats one option for ya. but id make it smaller to fit in the cab.

Re: Roll over bar / Roll cage
Thanks ! a lot. What about the base have u welded plates & what about the floor u bolt em onto ...how have you strengthened that ? I picked up the original roll bars that come for a Soft top pajero ... My car did not have them. But could not find any holes ...so I presume they were introduced in later models. Cheers!
Re: Roll over bar / Roll cage
the pic i put up isnt mine. mine has the factory bars... mines '93. looks like plates are welded to the bottom of the cage in that truck in the pic, and then bolted thru the floor. may even pay to put another plate on the otherside of the floor to bolt into, but im no engineer so dont have the foggiest about weather they are necessary or not.

if your planing on using it then I'd sugest putting some plates under the cage tubes between them and the body.... they are there to spread the load over a larger area removing the risk of the tube punching through the body in a roll over
