photo problems

Post by tomsoffroad »

Hi Mike

I'm trying to upload a few progress photos of my truck.
I've followed your instructions but I'm not sure how to change the URL to http://
When I right click on the photo and choose properties it lets me select the location but wont let me change it to http://
Is there a XP professional friendly way to do this?

Cheers
Thomas

Hi Thomas,

You have to upload the photos into an album on the website and then link to the photos from the forums. At the moment your trying to link from the forums to your home computer and unless your running your own web server this will not work.

Goto the photo albums and create an album and upload your photos to it. Then follow the instructions laid out in the site help for how to link to the photos from the forums. Trick is to open two windows, one to site help with the instructions and the other where you are adding photos and linking them into your post in the forums.

I'm still having problems finding a place to upload. Would you mind putting a link to it in this thread please Mike?
I can't even find the old "Users photos" area.

Its not there Pete - its part of the redevelopment... current photos are still available, but there is no way to upload new ones at present.

Make yourself a photobucket.com account and upload them there, then you can link them to your threads in a similar way to how it used to be done - they have an easy way to do it as you'll see when you use it.

Ok. Thanks Steve.
So is there a "Gallery" subject or forum to post a link to? I know there's a "video clips" forum.

No, presumably if you have a photo then its to do with a thread you are starting or participating in, you post the pic in the thread as per normal - its just being hosted somewhere else instead of in the gallery here. Hope that makes sense...

You can upload the pictures to one of the many free picture hosting sites out there (Photobucket, Picasa web album etc.) and link back to that picture by copying and pasting this picture's URL.
Something like this:
[ img]http://www.photobucket.com/your_picture.jpg[/img ]
Note that I put an extra space in the img and /img tags. Don't do this with the actual picture

under each pic in the photobucket album are 4 lines of code - the bottom one is called IMG link or something like that - click on it and it will automagically copy it, then right click in your thread and choose paste - that will paste the [ IMG] code in for you - clever huh? Actually far easier than putting them in the old gallery albums here...
