well i finaly connected up the mighty runva 12000lb beast
set it up with a deep cycle marine battery run isolated through a voltage sensitive relay to protect the startin battery, thinkin I may have to invest in a couple of optimas when I can afford it though, will see tomorrow how well the single battery will do tomorrow
oh and I fitted some 2in wheel spacers, not strictly legal but look damn cool
swb lux with 7mge, trailgear crossover, trailgear rear lift kit, custom front bar, runva 1200lb winch, custom snorkel, 37" Mtrs, custom deck, lockright in the rear.

HAve a wiring loom in the lounge unwrapping it and tracing wires.

What a suck job. I may just stop where I am and wrap it back up. Had good intentions of removin the surplus stuff but may just pretend they arent there.

Will pull the old loom out tomorow and see if it makes doing the newer one easier. I guess the internal side of things stayed the same even with and engine change of 8 v to 16 v. If not then I have one less job to do when I put in the new loom. Any one relocated their ECU from the factory possie by the fuse block in a vitara? How hard was it?

More tomorrow.

had to work yesteryday morning, then farted around for a couple of hours and waited for wisard2 to show him the way into Rallywoods.

got there in time to help with a few loads of firewood and watch sadams mammoth saw cutting through 4 logs at a time.

unfortunately left my phone in the cruiser, so didn't get a vid of it in action.

but I did however get a pic of Jerrys new truck crossed up pitifully after he let me drive it and a vid of the damage Jerry can do whilst towing a trailer full of empty rubbish (mainly bottles).

heres the vid........................

Was the Navigators (SKID) fault, he failed to advise the driver of the small bump in the track and also forgot to check the backboard on the trailer which rotted/fell off

Picked up the Hippo from the mechanics yesterday after being off the road for well over 2 months.
Just spent close to $4k getting the glow plug removed, and the head skimmed etc, and its not starting that much better

Oh well, at least its going again I guess, now time for new shocks, trailing arms and drop boxes, then I'll actually get to use it off road

I knew I should have taken the trailer down the other road ... which meant backing the trailer past the hut and the 3 NISSANS that were hogging the road  ..... wonder how many lights, panels and mirrors I would have taken out with my trailer reversing skills

Old loom out and new one (slightly butchered ) in. Took all the air and heater stuff out to make the job easier and shit is there a lot of room under the dash with that garbage out. Still waiting on new rule book to arrive so I will know if I have to have any of that stuff back in or binned.

Anyone want to buy a vitara 8v loom, ecu and head c/w manifolds etc? (I'll throw in the stuffed engine block to)

Also have a 5 speed vitara gear box to get rid of (and maybe a load of heater and fan stuff).

Dont know what they are worth so how does $400 for the engine and $200 for the gearbox sound?

did some more work on the g wagen the motor and trans are now back in place and with the new springs it is looking good.
not sure i am going to make it to rallywoods though finances are a bit stretched and i still have to get new shocks some longer brake lines and a new exhaust made up so i won't have much left for a drive down to rallywoods bit of a bugger that oh well will have to find something closer to home to do over queens birthday

Wandered up Thompsons. Loving the way Grumpy walks with swaybar disco'd. Extended brakelines will be here, hopefully, before QB weekend, so I can really stretch it.

After killing my Mig welder on thursday, pinched my bro's stick welder and spent Saturday in the shed finished rear highlift jack, spade and Axe holder where spare used to mount on the back of the 70 series, then made a tail gate type spare holder so my 35" spare will not break my tail light again. looks quite mint. then removed stock seat and fabricated mounts and fitted new Vinyl race seats. she's coming together. still no sign of my diff lock ex US but should have late this week (I hope) un fortunatly spend most of my rallywoods cash today on parts to fix my town car so am out for that now. very disapointed. will hopefully be able to find a run or two closer to home to go play.

I just got in the mood for doing some good 4x4ing but never actually made it happen, checked the forum a few times, no one else had organised a trip in the area and I was struggling to be bothered doing it as i feel like something more than a river at the moment. Looked at PRs new West coast trip photos and decided that was what I was after but all I managed to do was transplant some trees and finally get round to listing some unrelated stuff on trade me.

Oh brought me a hilift jack on Friday (while all dressed up after being at a funeral) and today looked at the unopened box adn thought about fitting it. Am thinking of putting it across the front above the winch rather than on the back.

Thursday night I got talking to a person in CHCH who is keen on some back country videoing (professional type stuff of nature scenes and wildlife) so might get them out to view photos of areas I've been and perhaps kit up and do a few treks into some wild places for some good footage. Keen on any recommendations - Will start another thread.

Also my bro spoke to a friend yesterday evening who is keen to get a 4x4 (talking VX cruiser) to do some offroading.
Sold my 1985, BJ74 MWB Landcruiser, rear locker, 33" MTs, snorkel, PTO winch, solid bars all round, spotties, AM CB etc.
Now just a 1994, 1kz Surf, pretty standard.

cheeky s l u t!! I can still remember, but have run out of bravery when it comes to leaning the beast over to go round corners.
if I leave it much longer, it will be a case of getting off and pushing it to turn sharp ones!!
A bit like i ski!!
