350 chev

Post by Chopper01 »

Im building up a new rock toy any have got my hands on a single cab hilux that is certed for a 350 chev.

what I was wondering what you guys out there are running on your 350 chev, have you stuck with a carb or gone for injection.

I have been doing some reading on pirate bay and I like the sound of the 670 holly truck avenger are any of you guys running them if so what are they like.

cheers chopper

chopper.... carbs and offroading do not go well together at all, absolute crappola, keep to the injection. Dad has an injected 350 in his patrol and it did go awesome, but its now getting a bigger motor

Like Tu says injection all the way if you want the thing to keep idleing when your on angles

I just run a standard Holley 600 and its ok but it'll always die if you button off the gas and drop off the mainjet onto the idle jet on something steep. You just learn how to restart the thing on angles or drive with 3 feet :?

i run a 600 holley with a few offroad mods to the carb much like the truck avenger but im getting sick of how tempromental it is mostly due to its age, i think im gonna get a new carb soon, maybe a 575 demon trucker, much like the holleys internaly parts wise but with better flow rates and better stats.

I like carbs for simplicity,INJ is cool but when im out wheelin and if something goes wrong with the carb i can fix it with a pair of pliers a screwdriver and a hammer....cant do that with INJ.

but if you get it set up right injection should never break :D we used to have a fj40 with a 350 and carb then when got a nissan with a 383 and injection and the injection is just so much nicer, i would have it anyday

yea SHOULD is allways the last thing you think of when your bonnet deep in the shit and your computor drops its guts or MAF sensor shortd or CAS blows ...the list goes on. awesum for trials or comps as your never far from the trailer but for big trips a long way from anywhere.... simple is better

I'd go injection over carb anyday. You might think there's alot to wrong with em. I disagree. My CPU is high up in the glove box. And it wouldn't take much to waterproof it. The whole motor runs perfectly underwater. My brother has a carb on his small block Chev and has come into trouble idling at steep angles. Fark that.

Go injected. Cheaper to run, more horse power, the list goes on. :D
