Cigweld or Lincoln Experience

Post by 2MEKE »

Who has experience with any of these models?...good or bad.

Transmig 165
Transmig 220
Transmig 250
Lincoln 180C
Lincoln 205

Haven't considered other brands as I can get these thru work cheap.

yea I have welded with both but I found the cigweld had a nicer grip than the lincon but thats what im used to. you should go for the 250 just more size. but either would be good as they are both good brands

That was meant to be Transmig 200 or Transmig 220.
Tho I'd like to buy the 250, in all honesty I can't really justify it :(
The 220 is $250 more than the 200 but the 250 is almost $750 more than the 200.
Still they're better priced than the Lincoln's.

I've bought both, a trans 175(might have been the 165 :? been a while) which I gave to the old man, I've now got a liquid arc 210 (a licenced clone of the lincon 210, now the 205)
the littel transmig was a great little welder did very well on panels and if you v'ed your welds could weld 10mm with resumble penitration, best thing is it was very adjustable
the 210 is just a solid pig, none to little adjustability, yes you can turn the dials  but its working range isn't flash in fact half of the power settings are just a waste of time (power setting 1) only if your using .6 wire on very clean panel will I bother that said this is the most reliable welder I've come accross I've been using it hard for 7yrs now and other than one issue with a bad conection which melted the wire feed motor chassi ( my fault ) all good
I've pushed it so far past its duty cycle that I was blowing 35amp jumpers on the shed  and it didn't miss a beat , now the trans thats another story  its getting old now (think its about 10yrs) but it would be lucky if its done a tenth of the wire the 210 has and dad has had it apart numerous times
All of that said I will never buy another lincoln product I bought the top of the range ($6000) ac/dc inverter welder from them and it did less than 40hrs work over 2yrs in that time it had problem after problem, there service agent was next to useless the company didn't reply to my communications, based on this lack of interest in there customers
I'd recomend getting the Transmig oh and from experiance get the biggest you can afford   the day will come when you wished you had
Cheers Reece

I have the Transmig 220, bloody great welder once you put a new diffuser on it that takes the screw-in nozzles.

this is what i can't decide on...the 200 with 8 power setting or the 220 with 16. But like you said, how many of the setting are going to be of little to no use for 95% of the time?

I bought the top of the range ($6000) ac/dc inverter welder from them and it did less than 40hrs work over 2yrs in that time it had problem after problem

what model?...I've been "testing" the V205 at work and and love it...just need to convince the ministeress of finnance I NEED it......NEVER going to happen :(
