Hit the brakes today in the wet, the front locked up. No squeel nothing just slid in the wet. Back end held and slowed me down.
Got me thinking (as this happens alot even in the dry sometimes) maybe the tyres on the front are of a poor compound and are too hard and dont grip as they should.
So I am in the market for a set of (14inch I think tyres) road tyres. This is my tow wagon and never goes off road (2wd) so the tyres should be road orientated. If I find I get stuck a lot towing my toy I will invest in some AT's for select occasions.
So what are everyones recomendations (tyre guys most welcome to PM but any pertinant info should be posted here for everyones benefit).
Cheers,
Heath.

Re: tyres for my 2wd courier
the bridgestone a/t work good on a 2wd, mate has them on a 2wd hilux d/c, gets good grip in the wet , work quite good on grass aswell and he gets around 60k out of a set,27/8.5/14 is the size he runs, i use firestone destinations on the wifes forester ,pretty much road tyres but good on the gravel, we get 35-40k out of a set. another mate has goodyear atr in 255/15s on a d/c sr5 td hilux work wagon that does a bit of towing with a 900ltr tank on a tralier and he gets 20-22k out of a set but the company he works for will only buy good year
.2yr old ute done 85k and getting its 5th set on this week, not what i would call good.not sure if you can still get them but hankook z36 used to get good milage and drive good, 65k on a 2wd hiace that was driven nice though.
