What was wrong with the use of the High lift :?:

What would you suggest was used instead :!: Is that scenario, not exactly what we carry high lifts for. :?

you think thats bad, you should ask badnuz for a pic of the use of a high lift at welly anniversary trip.

if hes lost, remind him its the tyre off bead thing he had while I was trying to sleep and suzuki1k was sleeping and the use of a ratchet strop was involved, and doddzee was the main man etc etc etc

high lifts aren't the easiest things to use at the best of times, especially when theres no level ground

look where the highlift is positioned?
why didnt you put it under the side bars below the door?(a highlift works fine on tube!)
lower the centre of gravity the better (or you wana argue that point aswell)
nope im glad i stuck my nose in cos im still getting the last laugh

ummmm, its on a tube

I may have tried to get it lower, but other than that it looks fine to me.

the thing I find with hi lifts and 4wds is that you generally have to lift quite high most times, just to get the blasted wheel off the ground, so the lower you can start it the better.

I can safely say that most times I have used a hi lift including on the flat garage floor, I have been worried about the angle it ends up on etc etc etc.

you just have to be cautious, which judging by the fact that there is nobody around the vehicle in question, looks like they were being careful.

p.s. just to start another shit fight.

can anyone tell me if he had tubes in them tahs :?: :?: :?:

maybe you should have put up a pic and highlighted where you would have put the jack, coz theres not too many places on that truck.

Its easy to point finger about recovery methods ,when the photos don't show the lay of the land at all. as Taz said, Lifting the truck from the side rail would have meant lifting the whole down hill side of the truck. = less stability. the high lift was also locked in place by the front bar corner, meaning it couldn't side off the truck.

I have seen some shocking high lift recovery's, one of which left a mate of mine in hospital. The one in question was executed quickly and safely.

I'm with BIGK on this, you want to avoid posting pics of trucks on hilifts coz usually they always come out looking dodgy whether they are or they arent and then we end up with the whole defensive/offensive debate (again) and what is safe and what isnt safe and everybody views it differently?

Dunno.....maybe it is worthwhile for awareness and advocation longer term?

Right! I took the photos in question. I posted the photos in question.

I was there and watched the whole proceedings. I have used Hi Lift jacks for as long as they have been out. The way this particular exercise was carried out was safe and secure. And as Tony pointed out, it is better to have 3 points of contact with the ground rather than 2, for stability, especially seeing as the ground was not flat.

It seems that almost every negative/derogatory comment has been made by people who were not only not at this exercise, but weren't even at Rallywoods!!!

Regardless of what the photo may show/not show, get facts right first before running away with the mouth. Thats all I'v got to say. End of story.

There's always someone out to spoil things for everyone else isn't there... always someone with a chip on their shoulder that has nothing better to do than say something without thinking about it first. 4 pages! Pathetic....

Don't panic bigpigcruiser................ The stranger in the safety vest had things under control. He got on to the Anti-fun Brigade and told them of the urgent need to prevent this sort of unsafe driving take place at Rallywoods and also to request that this area be cordoned off to prevent it happing again...........

Don't worry big pig cruiser the co-driver of the said truck gave the driver a good dressing down on his driving skills and informed him that when she did it she took the correct lines

Unfortunity all he heard was "nag nag nag nag nag nag nag nag nag nag nag nag nag" and he learnt nothing from it.
