Odlins Rd sidetracks

Post by Dace »

Went up here a while ago with Tony, Reece and Taz and had a blast, never done any side tracks cause my lux was lacking, but now I got suspension, tyres, winch and bullbar so am going to put them to the test.

I plan to go up weekend coming, either sat or sunday, and do a few of the side tracks get stuck, unstuck and have some fun

I would limit it to around 6 trucks cause of the narrow one way tracks, but if get alot of peeps keen, could devide into 2 groups

If ya keen, put a post in here with which day ya would prefer

Cheers
Dave.

Do ya wanna take over here Jerry

Just kidding

Am only planning a day trip, perhaps an early start, do a couple of side tracks, head thru to the hut or beyond for lunch and then a couple more sidetracks on the way out.

But will see what the masses are keen for then do what I want anyway
:P

doing harder trips (or potentialy harder) on a Saturday leaves Sunday up your sleeve if you've got 15 trucks stuck down the bottom of the hill or a few broken ones to try and repair or tow back

I've heard a few tales from people on here about getting the odd truck back from down there

It's not too bad Marty. We were in there a couple of months ago, to the hut and 2 of the side tracks. The side tracks are dead end, and mainly just mud, mud and more mud. From the top (Maymorn Juction) down to the hut isn't too hard a trip, couple of tight spots but really pretty easy going.

Some one that know the tracks wood be good, I have done cable and took 2 hours 2 get out (with the pre upgrade hilux) and the track off to the left befort the bad rut section of the main track a pleasant drive to nowhere with no particular challenge.

also did a side with Tony and Reece but was really a drive to nowhere that bent my tail gate

they are all drives to nowhere. i wont be taking mine past the bog in the middle of cable, the slide is the only really bad part in there i can think of at the mo. but havent been up there in ages so it may have changed. im only on 31s. ruts arnt my friend. but can go well past the hut and drop into the river etc.

didnt get it going intime. had problems with the pitmanarm and couldnt find a replacement on sat morn so gave up for the weekend. you dont have a 60series pitman arm lying around do ya? or 70? one that takes the bigger balljoints.
