if you slip the bead off a little bit when driving off road mud gets in side the tire case and pops the innertube , bit off a no win

bead slips off and usually tyre stays up coz of tube, but best thing to do when getting home is to strip tyre and clean so the little stones and muddy bits don't rub the tube and make it go flat.
I used to run my 40 with no beadlocks, tubes in at 4psi and rarely had a bead pop off, but I think my rims were slightly better at holding the tyre on than your average white spoke.
