I see more and more animated avatars turning up on ORE lately.
I have one ready to go, but its too large a file and I'm not sure if I can get the file smaller or not.
the ones I'm seeing on here, seem to be similar to mine, so can anyone tell my simple mind how to get it smaller to make it work.
cheers

There is no mechanical problem so difficult that it cannot be solved by brute strength and ignorance.

I think your right Dazza its about time he changed his undies

I dunno how you reduce a graphic size like that, I've done it to normal pictures with microsoft paint but I dunno about those animated pics's?
all I know is the maximun avatar sizes are "Maximum dimensions; width: 150 pixels, height: 150 pixels, file size: 146.48 Kb. "
Re: animated avatars
If is not the physical size you want to change but the file size then this little program might be of help:
http://chemware.co.nz/tgo.htm
Can reduce file size be reducing the amount of colours.
If the physical size is too large then it becomes a little more complicated.
You can extract all the frames using something like "Irfanview". This program can then be used to reduce the frame sizes to 150 x 150 pixels. Making it back into an animated GIF can be done using Photoshop.

Re: animated avatars
I use Photo Gadget. Not sure if it works for gif animations but is good for resizing pictures and stuff. You just right click on the image and click photo gadget then resize to what ever you want. Way easier than going by trial and error on paint. Download Photo Gadget here

XP has a neat utility called PICTURE RESIZER available from micro whatsit
Vista has a similar dingus, much the same name, but is a third party thing.
still works tho. you can enter the pixel x & y dimensions directly.
