14/15th June

Post by skid »

knocked back a bourbon at work on friday night and raced home to throw some shite into the VX, texted Bubba to see where he was hiding and hit the road to get some more bourbon and some nosh. 8) 8) 8)

did my best to catch up to Bubba, and finally tracked him down on the final stretch up to green hut in Rallywoods. :P :P :P

nobody was at the hut, so we assumed they out having a night drive, but they were just tucking taz01 into bed, then Curly decided to sneak off to bed early as well, so we had to rely on that asian fulla Jerry to cook us dinner, whilst Bubba kept us entertained trying to learn the 'soulja boy' dance from his daughter.
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=11858

then we just sat around partaking in a few beverages whilst talking shite and having a good laugh at some of the goings on that you see on ORE, before sneaking off to bed around the witching hour.

curly must of woken up with his second wind as I could hear him and Saddam and Bubba laughing the place down into the wee hours.

got up around 6.30am to see Taz loading up the fire again before I hit the road for work.

pissed around this arvo, had a wee kindy nap and settled in to watch the rugby.

have to cruise over to the wairarapa tommorrow to pick up my daughter, but not before I go to a job expo to see what jobs are going here and in OZ.

Changed one front hub from the parts-truck onto the No.1 truck, as the (almost new) wheel-bearing had crapped out. It seems I omitted a shim when I reassembled it last time. Bugger!

At least it seems ok in the meantime with the replacement hub, it should last for tomorrow's trip through the Rainbow.

The rebuilt engine for No.2 truck should be ready by early next week, so we will hopefully get that in before next weekend. Thank heavens I'm on leave now! I might actually get something achieved.

got my car back on the road on saturday the ignition lock decided to retire so had to get that rebuilt last week
then i headed down to tokoroa to do some work on the g made a start putting in my new lengthened brake lines then noticed that the steel lines on the calipers were badly pitted so i decided would be best to get some new ones made so have to organise that sometime
also made a new bracket for the crankshaft sensor only to discover that it wasn't going to work
put the new crank seal in place and refitted the front crank pulley
my 4wd is not a truck

Firewall where steering colum goes through has been straightened along with the dash which was also bent. The bar has been mounted, the rope guides are fitted, winch is mounted, batteries for 24v infuel tank has been remounted. Heater has been connected (not racing in Vegas in July without a heater!!!!!!!)

Still to do.

Fuel pump and surge tank to be mounted.
Deck structure and boxs to be finished
12v battery to be mounted
air tank to be shifted
anchor, hilift and spare wheel to be mounted

All should be done by the end of next weekend.

You got ripped bro, never pay more then $60.

I spent my weekend getting over having to shoot my best friend Ralph. 17 years of loyal service, many pigs to his name and even a goat. He immigrated over with me. He will be the first bit of dingo buried in this country. May he rest in eternal peace.

Got my wheels cleaned up and painted ready for the new rubber. Just waiting on the tubes now. Thanks Jase for the rims :D

Did a little more cutting and measuring for the winch mount and have come to the conclusion I need to either ditch or move the Aircon rad and slice off most of the lower rad mount OR body lift it.

Sunday I did a service on the family Disco, tightend up a wheel bearing changed the auxillary belt and a few other little bits.

Put a kitchen together too........ :D

Cheers Matt

Went through the Rainbow and into Hanmer on Sunday. Five trucks, had lunch at Lake Tennyson after snowballs at the top of Island Pass.

James (NSTG8A) doesn't do small snowballs!
But Boris the Niva makes the Saf' look really good.

Low-point of the day? Getting the 'zuk towed out of the mud by Boris.
