85 Solid Front Surf F/S
85 Solid Front Surf F/S
Ive got 3 options when it comes to my surf.
Sell it as it sits, new wof, but very scruffy.
Part it out
Or finish it and then sell it.
I'm not going to put this on tardme as its focused right now as an off-roader that is coincidently daily driven.
If none of you guys are keen on it whole let me know what bits you might want and I'll size up parting it out.
If that doesn't make economic sense to me, I'll finish it and sell it late October-Jan.
Heres some specs.
*3L (2.8 from a van)
*Prado Electric Diff lock in the rear. http://www.offroadexpress.co.nz/Forums/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=9434
*4.8's fitted same time.
*16X8 VX Landcrusier alloys with worn 32" Mongrels (wranglers and steelies in photos long gone, so are the BFG's and alloys)
*longer rear shackels on reset springs.
*50mm Bodylift
*Steel 3" snorkel (taken a beating)
*Flares
*Basic box section front bumper (do have winch mount and 10,000 pound winch for sale too)
*Recent (3 week) wof - front driveshaft is sloppy though.
*Reg due next month.
*Diesel Kms will be zeroed
*Good gearbox and T/case
**Certed for the 3L, 33's and heaps of little things like running boards and snorkle
Its a good play thing that has taken a hit in every panel.
I play in trees mostly so all guards, the bonnet, tailgate and roof gutters have all taken some punishment.
None are wof issues, and all doors still open. Rear tailgate window opens and closes from cab still.
Missing drivers mirror - a tree took it.
There is probbaly more, as always, people forget.
Thats where you folk come in.
Ask away.
Right.
Someone tell me how I can get to my old photos from the old site and Ill put them up too. Otherwise here are a couple of average ones that I had at uni today.
Tells you more that its bronze. These are 6 month+ photos, just imagine more dents and black paint hiding more dents.
Im open to offers around $5K
I dont want pms after cheap parts like headlights or people expecting the locker for way less than its worth.
Im reasonable on price but funnily enough know what parts are worth.
Tim.

Re: 85 Solid Front Surf F/S
So not even a Pm about the locker?
Ive got a fair few bits and pieces to go with the lot or if interest comes in individual parts I'll part it out.

Its got a fantastic rear bar, really well made by the last owner. Has 2 rated hooks and a detachable mini draw-bar.
You can almost make out the Ironman shocks too, Longer and larger diameter. They are in front and rear, I rate them highly.

Here is the winch bar. It has since had the side removed by trees. I started to weld tubing on the sides before deciding not to run a winch. Oh and I replaced the front brake lines with a pair (shit i cant remember) 50-150mm longer. They dont rub or flex out.

On occasion I clean it, Will be done before its sold.

Onto some of the spares. These are the guards off the single cab body not shown here (but will be). Its striped, underside has had the little rust taken out. (it is a good body by most standards) Undersealed with some expensive hardwearing paintable sound deadener. Its a cream white, meant to be white. But hey its the underside.

Here is the bonnet, in good nick, one door behind is caved in and its debatable whether it needs replaced or just popped out. (the corresponding surf door is ok)

One single cab tray, needs a new deck, but the frame is good. Was going to stub it.

10,000 pound winch made made by Chairman Mao, did a deal on the wranglers and VX rims for this.
Never had it running but the guy is one of my better mates. He replaced the solenoids and claims it be good.
Does fit nicely on the winch mount.

Here are some random parts picked up for a coonversion, some night lights, TJ U-bolts and weld on shock mounts from Jafa. Whats not shown are the actual coons, Ive had them drilled. There was just fab work to go, Shackles and mounts.
Oh and some well made diff relocation plates. Had these made quite along time ago. Welded studs, should work really well for moving front diffs forward.
What I havent shown, I will as I get photos of it all.
There are lots of little things Im missing, like the springs having been reset. Bearings in the front done, along with axel seals. Lengthened breathers, both into the cab.
Ive got photos of the Single Cab and locker installed, the wiring was done by tristanp, he used a diagram off the net it works great using a rocket switch and led to indicate locked/unlocked. All thats needed is a power source.
The 3L uses very little oil and starts well (when the frost hasn't killed my batteries). No oil leaks and Ive never had it hot.
This is a good rig, goes far enough to give me the shits often. Climbs well with the 4.8s.
Im not getting out of 4wding, just rationalising what I own. The bank owns too much of our house and I cant seem to stop spending on this. Ive got another 4wd that I wont modify to tie me over till I leave for Oz.
Ill keep working on the S/C, its nearly ready for a blow over, then it goes onto the surf chassis.
Could someone buy this before I go and buy tubing to exo it?
Tim.

Re: 85 Solid Front Surf F/S
I keep forgetting to say, the locker is installed in a LN61 housing, so the wide axle with larger drums. The brakes were totally replaced right before I bought it. Ive also retrofitted a 61 handbrake system in, fits the wider diff and has a shorter throw.
Re: 85 Solid Front Surf F/S
Auction does not include the single cab, coons or associated parts.
So if your interested, PM me.

Ill see if i can get some photos one night, I work days at the mo so light will be piss poor.
Ill sell it with all parts you should expect, doors guards, dash, bench seat, grill, inner guards.
Its all there apart from one headlight and the glass for the caved in door.

Ive got drilled coons (4pack), TJ wrangler U-bolts and trail gear weld on shock mounts.
Everything but the fab work. Not sure if all the bushes are there, but best to use new ones anyway.
Fairly sure all the wiring loom is there, It came as a complete ute.
